Boowinda Gorge is part of Carnarvon Gorge. The genesis of the Gorge goes back many millions years. By this time Carnarvon Creek (I do not think that it had a name by then) started flowing through sandstone and after a while it made a magnificent canyon. However, the sandstone is soft enough to give way very easy, thus the Gorge is wide and big. At the Northern part of the Gorge another creek joins but this one had rather a hard job, digging in a hard and tough rock. And this is how this unbelievable place was created. Day after day, year after year, the water drilled the rock building deeper and deeper riverbed until we could come and see how tough the rock was and how huge job was done.

Spectacular view Roman, and you've told the story well. It was obviously quite dark in there - the exposure was fairly long, and unfortunately it has led to some overexposed parts of the photograph. It would have been nice to preserve the darkness, but all the same it's a good shot.

Hi Roman!
I like it! Seems an impressive place.I like the shapes of the rocks and the presence of the woman there gives us the idea of their dimension. I guess it's sharp and colours are nice also.

The scene here is impressive and grabs the viewer into the space. Great use of a person in the scene to add scale and depth. I would consider an F-stop of f/8 or f/11 for perhaps more detail of the distant rock formation? Just a small suggestion. Lovely use of lines and shadows to create an interesting compositon.

Hi Roman,

this is a very interesting place and very nice composition. Some parts of the picture are overexposed but not enough to rest quality to this shot. It was also a very smart idea to include the person to add dimension to the composition. Nicely done Roman :-)

FABULOUS! Such scale, such a magnificent view. I especially like the way the light comes down through the top and lights up the green of the moss. I am totally envious of you to have such a place to take photographs!! Beautiful job, Roman... TFS... Shelly
