Dights Falls
 |
|
| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
Dights Falls are within Yarra bend park. There is a natural outcop of basalt boulders which cross the river.
A concrete weir was built in the 1840s on top of the basalt to divert the river through a mill.
On the other side of the river is a much older steep, silurian, sedimentary spur.
This image was taken from the basalt boulders just below the wier (a favorite place for herons and other water birds) looking across the river to the sedimenary spur. |

Hi Stephen
wonderful shot
colours, sharpness and deep are very nice
regards
Hi Stephen.
The colors are very good, the sharpness and textures excellent as well, the composition is well-treated. I specially like the sky, the bustling waters and because the rocks seem to invite me to seat down, I just stay in front of the picture as if I was really there!
Congratulations,
Marine
Stephen,
a nice and well composed shot. The DOF goes well through the entire image with the sharpness of the rocks in the front and all the way through to the other side of the shore. Strangely enough the flora in the background isn't as sharp as expected with a f/22. Does that have to do with some strong wind in the area?
Peter
Looking at all your postings of the Yarra Bend Park, I really felt I have missed out so much during my short visits there.
This one is superbly presented with a thick black canvass. f/22 gave you details on everything, the boulders in the FG and everything else in the BG...a perfectly composed landscape shot.
Alfred
hello Steve,
This doesnt look anything like the landscape you will find in Melbourne.
very well spotted, the frame is superb. Well done
