Photographer’s Note
Hi all.
Although the weather may not be very autumnal the trees are playing their part and turning colour and shedding their leaves. This was taken just out of Bulls early one morning and shows a derelict house sheltering under some old willows.
In workshop what I passed on the way to this scene.
Enjoy, Paul.
Lots of comments about the roofless house; I'm saving for a wider lens ;-).

Hey Paul,
A fine perspective. Too bad you dont have a wider lens, so you could include the house. But this is very nice too, because the leaves are of beautiful colors, sharp, well defined and saturated.
Enjoy.

Hi Paul,
Good use of this wonderfully colored and textured FG . The house colors also match that of the leaves... may have been nice to include the roof too!

Hello Paul,
I would love to see the house fully inside the frame but this way is very nice too. The blanket of leaves create an interesting fall scene here. The colours are very pretty and the light enhances the quality of the image. Nice one Paul.

I have NEVER seen so many leaves in one place. An incredible sight. I love all the colors, and also the old house which I hope we'll see more pictures of. TFS

Hi Paul,
Low angle shot works well here .... very good texture created by the leaves. I like the rustic atmosphere punctuated by the broken down house in the background. You've captured and composed the scene superbly ... excellent work! tfs and have a nice weekend.

Hi Paul
I like this shot, it has very warm colours and light and very good sharpness. I'm not 100% sure I like the empty space in the FG, may be by showing just from the tree log upwards.......
Anyways a nice composition
cheers

What an amazing leafy carpet; it looks several inched thick. Your low POV works well to really show the detail and texture of the leaves. I read your comment about needing a wide angle lens. Although it may have been better to have the roof of the shed I don't see it as a big deal as thepost is all about the leaves. Well done
Kath
I can't get used to the idea the bottom half of the world have reversed seasons. ;D
Actually our equivalent time to this image would be the end of September, by which time the leaves are mainly still green.

Hi Paul,
Welcome the autumn in the antipodes! While, here we enter in the spring.
Your photo is perfect to show this environment of the station, with this carpet of died leaves in the ground.
The contrast with the house of wood in BG a creates a nice graphism to the composition. When you have the wider lens you will be able to repeat this photo with the roof of the house
:o)
A beautiful work.

Hi Paul,
I like this POV to show us this thick carpet of leaves. Like here in Canada in October, a typical Autumn look. Each hemisphere in its turn ;-)
Thanks for sharing,

Hi Paul,
The WS is really stuning! I love this season, the colorful trees are so beautiful at this time of the year, a real feast to the eyes, and the fun continues when them cover the ground in a red-yellow carpet. I find it a nice interesting subjet, and you idea in focusing on the leaves is good, unfortunately I have to agree with the one about the roofless house... Sorry.

Flavia

Hi Paul,
This is a very interesting and unusual POV you've got here. I love the colors, autumn is such a pretty season! Yes, having the top of the house would have been better. But with what you got, you did very well.

Bonsoir,
belle photo de cet endroit superbe ou l' automne est très fort, les feuilles sont tombées, puis les branches des arbres et il est tellement fort cette année que même les planches de la barraques tombe aussi.
Très plaisante a visionner, votre carpette d' automne

I like your bonus shot Paul. Great colour. This one here gives us a good indication of the fall colours seen in New Zealand. The textures are good. With respect to the house, and it's roof, I might have been tempted to increase the contrast and crop the house right out. I've put up a workshop to show you what I mean.
Thanks, John

Hello Paul,
Nice warm tones in these autumn leaves, The old shed with it's water tank fits in well, colour wise. Beautiful clear & colourful composition.
Thanks for your good wishes.

Hi Paul,
that is matching an idea I had also, but without such a pleasing place like you found here. The carpet of leaves on the ground, here hiding the rest of a trunk in the ground a a house in pleasant colours behind. You have to be quick with your new lens, the house does not look as it will stand for a long time :-)

Hello Paul,
I see the autumn has arrived in the North Island!
Here we are facing spring now, that's why we don't see photo opportunities like this for the time being, hehehe...
Amazing colours and a fine composition with inclusion of the old building in the back!

Hello Paul,
Autumn leaves care for a wonderful colour carpet, I find this the most beautiful period of the year.
We see the old derelict house in background, with soft colours and nice presentation.
Very well done, thanks for sharing.

Hello Paul
I missed this one earlier! Lovely colours of the fallen leaves forming a carpet on the entire ground. In fact I like your inclusion of the tree trunk stub in the FG. The carpet seems to be at least ankle deep. I don't mind the roofless house, because it's all about the leaves here.

Hi paul,
I'm with Kath here on the roof. For me, the purpose of the derelict house is to proovide a structured,color-coordinated BG for that lush leafy carpet. I didn't even notice the lack of a roof.
