Photographer’s Note
Hi all.
This is a large agricultural irrigation system in use watering the newly sown field across the river from me. Unfortunately in the low resolution image here you can only just see the ducks in the field enjoying the free shower.
This shot was taken from the same vantage point as my “First rain” post. Between the trees and the field at the bottom of the shot lies the Rangitikei River.
400mm lens tripod mounted.
Enjoy,
Paul.

Hi Paul,
Low sunlight makes that spray liquuid gold. Beautiful moment on this wide open landscape. Well planned shot, it was worth taking that long lens to use.

Hello Paul,
The light hitting the water does make it appear as fire. Nice place and interesting how just a strip od land is green while the rest of brown. Nice point of view and colour management. The view is pretty. Thanks Paul.

Hey Paul,
Beautiful work right here, really looks like a flamethrower, when induced by this special lighting. So great lighting and a color, and a superb motive.
See you around.

Hi Paul,
Quite a dynamic shot with the water spray. Actually the low resolution worked well here to give softness to the image and the warm lighting from the sun. The lines in the ground looks visually appealing too. This is an excellent composition. Well done! tfs

Hi Paul,
oh what a wet flame :-)
Lovely light result by the watering in the evening (best time) and with all those details and patterns a challenge for compression. The warm orange is wonderful.

Hi Paul,
I'll bet that you are relieved to have your long drought over with. Droughts are miserable. This is a fantastic photojournalistic type of photo and this would make a great shot for an article about New Zealand agriculture. The backlighting on the water being sprayed is outstanding! I like the backlighting on the trees and the sheep on the top part of the frame. I am glad that you mentioned the opportunistic ducks cooling off underneath all of the water spray. Ducks are funny. Outstanding photography!

Paul, this is a scene that reminds of the agriculture in the area where I live. I saw very similar moments here and thought quite often that I should carry my camera with me to get such a moment. You did it perfectly and demonstrating that it really is a great idea - it looks great!

Hi Paul, Good to see the sigma 400mm lens in action. The focus and colours are very good. The tripod helps no doubt as the 400 lens are often pretty heavy? Very interesting scene well presented. TFS. Murray.

Hello Paul,
How is the weather down there, Auckland had quite a bit of rainfall for the past few days, and we had quite enough of the wet! It's ok yesterday and today!
beautiful image with the right moment from the sunlight reflected on the waterblast, so wonderful
have a great week ahead, mate!

They turn up here too in particular dry years, but normally we do without them!
The backlight gives a fantastic effect here, which you cleverly capture...

What splendid light management with the last light making a curtain of gold and highlighting the dry leaves of the tree. Things have certainly greened up nicely in the last 2 months. Knee-deep in mud yet??

Bonjour Paul,
voilà de l'opportunisme, réussir à capturer la lumière du soleil commeun lance flammes alors qu'il s'agit d'eau.
C'est une source lumineuse improvisée mais efficace.
Originalité incontestable.

I believed your title for a second. ;D You certainly chose the right time to catch this as the sun's rays cast their glow on the water, making it look like the flame of your title. A close up of the ducks would be good....with a water-proof camera ;D

Hi Paul,
You have had a good eye to see this composition, taking advantage of the strong graphical effect that produces the Sun in this jet of water in the system of irrigation, which really looks like a flame-thrower.
Excellent cross-light, in a photographic work very well performed.

Hi Paul,
A very lovely and dynamic visual impact is generated from this shot especially with the spray of water which is beautifully lit. I also like the good division of space from the different sections of the landscape. They harmonized very well with the long jet of water. Very lovely capture!!!

Hello Paul,
A beautiful landscape, Nice POV & light, I like the way the sun rays has turned the water a golden colour and the leaves on the trees in FG are like mirrors. The ducks are hard to see but I think the others are sheep ;-). Nice colours.
