Summertime…

Welcome to MANGAWHAI "The Place of Te Whai , where the streams meet"

Last week my husband and I drove 106 kms north from our home on the North Shore of Auckland, to Mangawhai to visit our son and daughter-in-law who have rented a “bach” / holiday home for a few weeks holiday up here. The day was beautiful, and here is the beach that is normally quite a surfies’ dream beach, only there’s no surf today. This is the second of the photos I have posed of Mangawhai.

This rock formation is Head Rock at the mouth of Mangawhai Harbour.

The number one attraction at Mangawhai is the many beaches, with a patrolled surf beach on one side (this photo) and safe harbour beaches on the other.

The surf beach offers fun for everyone, surfing, body surfing, boogy boarding, surf casting, swimming, paragliding, walking, or simply lazing on the beach with a good book.

The harbour beaches offer sand or lawn area for young children and families to play or relax.

For those wanting fun and adventure there are three boat ramps for whatever sport you are interested in.

Fishing out in the ocean, diving and exploring the coastlines of the mainland or of the many islands off shore.

In the distance you can see Little Barrier Island in the Hauraki Gulf.
