Onetangi beach of Waiheke Island, almost the same place as my previous upload. I like when there's people and action on the beach, but would choose this over packed beaches of Mediterranean summer anytime!

The big tree is Pohutukawa, also known as New Zealand christmas tree. It has beautiful red flowers around Dcember, unfortunately not yet in full bloom here.

Hello Kari,
This is typical from NZ !!!
Empty wonderful landscapes... really nice sea shores
Such a pity to see these lonely girls...
Best regards,
Christian

Well done Kari! I really like the light in this one, how only the girls get the sun rays. I would maybe compose it so that the girls are in the very bottom and we can't see the shadow of the tree.

Hi Kari, I think this is a great beach shot, unusual in its approach, nice you used a vertical approach, framing it nicely with the tree. The girls in similar pose stand out nicely, esp. when I imagine the shot with the crop suggested by Tali (a good idea indeed). Cheers :) Daniel

Ah, lovely Waiheke! Onetangi is such a great beach, very long too. Well composed Kari, and I like seeing the baches / beach cottages on the hill. Think of me here next January!

This looks like an idyllic beach. I like the composition using the "Christmas" tree to frame the shot and also including the sun worshipers who form an integral part of the image.
Judging by the shadow they'll be moving soon.
Kath

Hi Kari,
I like your framing of this picture with the trees over the focus point, which is the two girls. TFS
Regards, Jino

Hi again Kari,
I love this pic. It's so typical of both Waiheke Island and a lot of places around the upper North Island, although most of the beaches closer to the Auckland region normally have more people on them. It's one of the things I really love about NZ.
I love your composition here. The pohutukawa 'frames' the upper part of the image really nicely and you seem to have achieved a nice balance of landscape, beach, and tree with the sunbathers adding both a focal point and providing some sense of scale.
Nice work, once again! :-)

Hugs,
Tony

Hello Kari
A scene that could be nowhere other than NZ - with the Pohutukawas the baches in the distance and so few people. Good capture and TFS, Marlene
