Photographer's Note

On the road to Glenorchy from Queenstown, the drive alongside Lake Wakatipu is stunning. There are so many places to stop and take in breathtaking views. This view is about 16km south of Glenorchy, looking out across Lake Wakatipu to Pig Island, and the Thomson mountain range. The high peak in the background is called Tooth Peak and stands at 2061m.

Lake Wakatipu's length is 80km and as such is South Islands longest lake. At 291 sq. km it is also New Zealands 3rd largest lake. With it's location at the southern end of the Southern Alps, it's reversed 'N' shape is surrounded by mountains.

We had been skimming these perfectly shaped stones seen just below the surface of the water across the equally perfectly still lake. A perfect day! I obviously waited for the ripples to stop before capturing this moment...

Hope you enjoy!
