[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Winter fog in Auckland can do strange things.

In this photo it has rolled in over Freeman's Bay, a lowlying area of reclaimed land between the higher profiles of Ponsonby (where the towers stand) and the central city (where I stood for this shot.)

No PP other than adjustment of colour and contrast.

Hi Rew. I thought my fog pictures were foggy. This looks like the mother of all fogs.Did many noses get broken on that day? Interesting effect of the floating towers. Nice colours too. Regards. klaudio

Hi Rew,
Well captured ... a strange scene to look at. Well done.
Cheers,
Renier

Fantastic pic, Rew! It reminds me of San Francisco, where you can find the same kind of fog! Well done! Greetings from Rio! Miguel.

Funny picture...
The fog doesn't move due to red traffic lights ;)

It's interesting to see the winter on the opposite hemisphere while it's scorching sun here from where I write these words :)

Hi Rew
This is so weird but very effective.
I like the balance between the 2 buildings and the 2 traffic lights. Plus you have one tree with leaves on the left and one without on the right.
Well seen.
Regards
Nikki

Hi Rew - definitely an odd sight - such a huge bank of fog obscuring the buildings. It would be interesting to see what this place looks like without the fog! The closer building & traffic lights help to define a snese of depth & perspective.

amazing shot ... i love how the mood changes from the upper to the lower part of it ... like it's cold below but the sun hitting the two towers gives it a warm feelin if u know wut i mean ...
have to admit i stayed for a coupla seconds unable to believe it's not actually two pictures molded into one ...
brilliant work and luck too ;)

This is an incredible shot. I've never seen fog like that before.
I like how the tops of the buildings are still lit by the sun, and how you've balanced the composition by including the two traffic lights.
Good work, a very interesting shot.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Rew!
Very interesting scene!
I like this strange line of the fog.
Good work!
Best regards!

Ola Rew, muito interessante, parece que pintaram uma faixa de branco entre os predios e a terra, boa composição

Photo prise au bon moment...

Hi Rew - very original and eye catching, even the traffic lights contribute positively to the composition.

Hi Rew,
This is one excellent moment that you have captured. Amazing effect of the fog, it makes the building vanish in the thin air just like some magic. The sharpness of the other parts form a nice contrast.

Hi Rew,
Great shot. The fog make a surreal visual effect and you captured it very well. The composition is very good and I like the red signs in foreground: it makes an artistic play with the two towers. Very well done!
Cheers,
Ricardo

A rare an unusual sight - very interesting!
Cheers,
dave

Rew, cette image est surréaliste et nous fait accéder au monde étrange que le brouillard peut créer. J'aime les couleurs et la composition avec un premier plan très net et ces deux tours comme tronquées en suspension.
Jacques

Hi Rew, ouch what a fog ! The result of this picture is marvelous with this foggy weather, excellent the way the two peaks go out of it, well seen and successfully caught.
Great !

Hello Rew,
beautiful scene, well framed and captured...Looks like somebody just took a giant eraser and made the lower parts of those towers disappear...looks unreal...
Thanks for sharing
Vlad

Hi Rew!!
This photo is really amazing!
It looks like one picture overlaped the other.
Nature can be really mysterius!

Great work, thank U and greetings from Poland, AgnieszkA

Hi Rew. Fog in Auckland is almost unheard of until this year, now almost every week we hear of fog in Auckland, and now we also have the proof. Well spotted and well captured. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hello Rew,
Looking at your gallery, I have really been attracted by this shot. The composition is really great and the inclusion of the trafic lights is very well seen.
Congratulations.
Hope to come back in your wonderful country one of these days !
Regards. Christian

Great composition of a unique and very interesting site! I've found myself looking at it for moments in disbelief that you can't see the towers at all.

Well done!

-Doug

wow

ciao

Hello Rew,

Incroyable photo, bravo pour aovir su saisir cet instant. J'aime bien aussi la touche de couleur apportée par les feux !

Jean-Marie

Excellent POV and nice tone here.. Really well done! Regards, Doug

Great shot Rew! Superb POV on this. I like the street light pointing to the right. It sort of guides the eye along.
Cheers

Hello Rew,

This is a very interesting picture! I've only seen this "phenomenon" high in the mountains. You've managed to capture a unique scene! Congratulations and TFS!

Regards,
Eddie

Hi Rew

You have catched a very nice and strange scene. This fog is like a wall! :) Excellent!

Fantastic. In Germany we have the word Nebelwand which would be fogwall. But it is the first time I really see such a wall.
Really good colours.
Nino

Hi
Hard to believe that this is a picture taken in New Zealand - most of the photos from there are the beatiful landscapes.
To be honest with you I haven't seen anything like this before. I live in Chicago and I saw the Sears Tower in clouds but it's definitely something differend and more surprising.
Very nice capture
Take care
Henryk

Unbelieveble image. This two red point and building which is cuttind with fog is splendid..
congrats

Hello,
Wooo! This is crazy!there is a big part of the image which is clean:foreground and the top. But the fog! That,s all we see here! it is like a wall!
You captured it nicely!
Marc

Hello,
The only thing I can add to the justified round of applause on this shot is that you must have smiled at the presence of the sign 'Imageland' as you pressed the shutter.

Best wishes, Martin

hi rew,
what can i say more!!??
symetry between the towers and the traffic lights is well seen, like the "image land"...
the blue fog and the top of towers are nicely contrasted.

What a interesting capture, Rew! Very nice and surreal image! Well done!

Two worlds ! Light, sun, modernity vs darkness, shadow, and old fashion building. A great opposition, very well captured.
Stéphane

Very nice shot, I enjoy the fog, it's irealistic! Well done

Rew,

I wonder how far the Pansonby from the Central City? This image is amazingly odd for a fog to create a seemingly border line (or layer?) that separates the upper portion of those 2 towers from the city sight. Is this a usual occurence in your place? hehehehe....otherwise, this image could also be in a "decisive moment" category.

carol

Rew
Mystical, you can't beat nature at her best.
Great shot

Very strange effect created by fog. It's a good idea and very well seen. We could think about a PP but no. It seems to have two different photos.

Hello Rew,
Amazing shot! It's really unbelievable to see the top of the fogg and the high buildings in the sunshine above it. Nice work!
Best wishes,
Marton

This shot is just incredible... it almost looks like two separate photos... Is fog a rare occurence in Aukland or pretty usual? The result is awsome;-)
