Hi all. This is a view of Mount Ruapehu and Mount Ngauruhoe from the Ruahine Ranges.
The weather forecast was good so I took the day off and took my camera for a walk in the park. The Ruahine forest park. The track has spectacular views back over the mountains of the Tongariro national park. Ruapehu is on the left and Ngauruhoe is on the right. Both are active volcano’s and play up every few years, usually during the ski season much to the dismay of the ski field operators.
In the foreground is the high country of the northern Rangitikei district.
Enjoy, Paul.

Hello Paul,

The shots we get from New Zealand are really stunning. I think I'd take days off work to see this!

I like the way the way the scene is criss-crossed by the jagged peaks of the hills, the layers of colour fading into the distance, until the eyes eventually reach the sumit of the volcanoes.
This really is a scene from a fairy tale!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

New Zealand must have a real variety of landscape, this being very different. A nice pov giving us a great view! Lovely!! Have a happy day!

Hello Paul,
An interesting landscape and a fine composition!
I like the fading hills and the fine light on the summit to the left, strong foreground interest creates a fine sense of depth...
Good point of view to show this amazing landscape!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi mate,
Compliment for this fine and beautiful image of our proud Mt.Ruapehu! so successful without cloud covered of it, I tried before but no good!
very nice pov from a higher ground!
many thanks for the sharing, my friend
have a wonderful weekend!
cheers
Tony

- Superb bluish mountain landscape, the various levels gives an very good impression of relief, bravo Paul!
Have a good weekend.

Hi Paul, you picked a good day for it, the visibility is excellent. You have captured this perfect clarity in this shot of the foothills leading up to the mountain. I like this play of light and shadow seen here, with a transition of colour and texture as you move further back in the distance, and all capped with a great blue sky. Very nicely done Paul.

Thanks, John

Hi Paul. This scene takes us back to a land before human habitation, before the Pakeha and the Maori.Virgin land, in other words. it is heartening to see such beauty, seemingly without man made scars. great nuances in colour and light. Regards. Klaudio.

Hello Paul.
Great lanscape, and fine shot to capture it. The eye moves from the sharper area in the foreground full of shadows, to the hazier more distant mountains, basking in the sunlight. The snow capped peaks rise so impressively above the many ridges and valleys, and you placed them so well on one side. I've been past Ruapehu twice, and once it was smoking.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Paul. NZ has some very good alpine scenery and dthis is a classic composition which looks so good in any light. The blue skies beyond the volcanic cones/peaks adds a lot. TFS. Murray.

Hello Paul,
Another spectacular view, very well captured from across the Tasman, Good POV showing us a large area of contrasting terrain. The sleeping volcanos look pretty impressive.
Thanks
Santo

Hi Paul,
Impressive mountain well captured. I like the way you manage the high glare here. Good image quality and overall contrast. Well composed! tfs and have a nice weekend.
Cheers,
Renier

Wow, in the original shot the detail must be fabulous because it come through well in the small postable size. Because of the clarity of the air it seems that the distances shot here are huge, nice job.

Colro is subtle and the trees look like fall but overall really super.

Greg

Paul,
Superb depth from this high POV.
I like the soft contrasts, and how they underlines the huge distances of this landscape.
Regards,
JB.

Hi Paul
Nice view of the vulcanic lamdscape. Excellent POV and details

Hi Paul,
amazing landscape, good POV and composition. Unusual place near by volcano. Good shot, well quality.

Hi Paul,
The depth of this beautiful landscape is impressive, and your capture catches its majesty with a very attractive luminosity and a few perfect tones. The light and the shades draw the whole relief of this Park, with a nice graphical effect.
The mountains in BG are splendid, I like the contrast of the snow with the sky.
A beautiful work, my friend.
Best regards,
Josep
PS: I see that you take advantage to me, already almost you have the second grandson. When he is born, dedicate also a photo in order that we could congratulate you.

hi Paul

Very fine pov from this high angle looking across the terrain of mountain ranges and with a snow cap peak at the end. The soft color tone is great. The visibility is high to give you such a shot.

Hi Paul
Excellent view at the distant mountains. Great light and the feeling of space.

Paul bonjour.
Ce relief volcanique tourmenté est mis en valeur par une lumière rasante. La montagne enneigée semble le patriarche veillant sur la jeune génération.
Beau travail.

Hi Paul,
Impressive DOF here! Colours are amazing, each range of mountains has a different tone of colour, but in a subtle variation, like in a soft rainbow.
Thanks for sharing,

Hi Paul!
Its very nice to see the four layers of your photo, with its different patterns of colours, tones and contrasts. And when all this amazing view is under a bright blue sky, the success of your photo is guarateed. Of course that the highlights are the white mountains, the volcano outlooks!

belle photo, bonne netteté, belle vue plaisante a visionner.

Amitiés Thomas
Je reviens.

Hi Paul,

Fascinating this high country in front of the two volcano’s.
I suppose the country is full of volcanic stone if I consider the dark colour.

Hola Paul,
Espléndido panorama de este parque y sus montañas. Una belleza de paisaje volcánico. Estupendos colores y profundidad.

Interesting to view this next to the previous one as a thumbnail, as the colour palette is totally different, although on opening we can see the greens in here. It's a stunning viewpoint you have found. The hazy atmosphere and low contrast suits the image well. Ruapehu is a similar shape to Mt St Helens in Washington State US; it must have blown the top right off at sometime.

Hi Paul,
Yikes!!! I can imagine that dodging volcanic activituy would not make skiing much fun. This is a very interesting view of these two volcanos, I like the way you framed the FG mountains for scale. It's a sight that is usually cloud-shrouded.

Hello Paul
As we move from the FG to the BG, we see a distinct change in exposure from shadows to high light. Wonder how you managed to keep the glare under control over the snow peaks. Liked the layers, very effective in this well done picture.

Ola Paul ,
Que profundidade de foto fantástica e uma paisagem muito linda com estas montanhas , gostei muito da montanha no horizonte com neve , boa iluminação , parabéns!!!

Hi Paul,

what a POV!! I like this one very much... Congrats.

Paul,
absolutely spetcular view although I have the impression that you didn't have the best light conditions. The landscape deserves either an early morning or late afternoon light with long shadows across the landscape.
Peter

Hello Paul,

Taking a day off to enjoy a beautiful day is not always possible for me, but I am glad you did because this picture is very nice. The layering of the terraing is very effective to show us a good transition from foothills to a large rock mass. Nice sharpness and details. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Paul, What an amazing landscape, this view is truly spectacular, its breath taking to see this with the two volcano’s in the back, just as well they are dormant at the moment, however that would be a photo to catch, TFS this great shot, kind regards Wilson.
