[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
The Tongariro Crossing is said to be the best one day walk in New Zealand and one of the top 10 one day walks in the world. This 17km one-way walk takes 7-8 hours and is very popular especially on weekends and during holiday periods - it is not recommended to be walked in the winter months.

The Tongariro Crossing winds up the Mangatepopo Valley to the saddle between Mt. Tongariro (1967metres) and Mt. Ngauruhoe (2287metres). You can walk the side tracks to each of these summits but obviously a lot more time must be allowed. The track climbs to the spectacular red crater which is 1886metres and the highest point if you have decided not to take either of the summit side tracks. From the Red Crater the track drops down to the brilliant Emerald Lakes and after passing Blue Lake the track descends around the northern slopes of Mt. Tongariro and then zigzags past Ketetahi Hut and down to the roadend. As it is a one-way walk you need to arrange to be picked up at the roadend.

This photo was taken towards the end of the walk overlooking Lake Rotoaira and Lake Taupo is beyond.

hi Marlene

I find this very interesting because trekking is such a nice hobby for me. You captured the view nicely with FG soft color of dry stalks and leading a path up into the frame.

tfs, bill

Hello Marlene,
Looks like a very fine trek and I like your composition with the thick, tall grass going diagonally across the picture. The colors are pleasantly soft.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hello Marlene,
This is a lovely landscape with the two hikers walking through the tall golden grasses. It is a painterly picture both in style and mood. Your note is informative and interesting. Very nice job!
Warm wishes,
Betty

Nice composition Marlene... I specialy like how you froze the 2 trekkers at the end of the visible path... and then which view are they going to find? It leaves me a very nice feeling of curiosity after enjoying the panorama in your snap... if it would be a series I would have been so curious to see the next ones!!
