Photographer's Note

I asked my friend and assistant guide Ray Brown to go and stand atop the pinnacle as the sunset and cloud streaks fell into place for what I was sure would be a nice shot. We were on Cerro Aconcagua (6970m) the highest peak in the America's on a frigid cold but windless evening. Ray went to K2 the following year and died shortly after from heart failure. This is the shot I best remember him from; at home in the mountains.
