...that keeps shining.
Someone reminded me of that song the other day.
Anyway - altitude sickness. Ever had it? Imagine one of those headaches that make you want to curl up into a little ball and die...then double it, no, multiply it by ten.
The highest point in Australia - which I haven't been to - is about half as high as where this photo was taken, so it was all a bit new for me.
Got off the bus and wandered up the hills into La Paz, stopping every little while to take a breath, and took a gamble on a hotel that looked okay...and it turned out to be pretty good. Then I started to feel like hell. I dragged my sorry behind out of bed at the place we were staying to stick my camera out the window and get a shot of La Paz at night. I guess sort of looking up to El Alto - which is now considered a seperate city to La Paz by most, and it's the part higher up the hill.
Got a bit more used to it by the next day though.
So, a tip for travelling - just go for it! If it all goes bad, at least you'll have a good story and maybe some good pictures :)
More of this great city to come if you can stand it.
