Photographer's Note

Note: this picture was taken with a non digital camera and then scanned to my computer, so you may find that the resolution is not so good.

This is the summit of the Tunari mountain, located in Cochabamba, Bolivia. It's at 5200 msnm (17060 feet over the sea level).

I went there with my friends and we spent 6 hours trying to reach the summit. We started at 9000 feet and walked about 8 miles. The hard part is the climbing... the lungs and heart work at their best trying to get used to the altitude and at the same time providing oxygen and blood to the legs.

I made the last meters using the "Himalaya" technique: 10 steps and resting 30 seconds, 10 steps and resting 30 seconds.

Reach the summit of a mountain is a unique experience!
