Photographer's Note

And to finish this series of birds from my hotel in Itacaré, I present you this rufous-bellied thrush (Turdus rufiventris), one of the most popular birds in Brazil, quoted by several poets as the bird that sings in the season of love, the spring.

It is a much appreciated singing bird, which resembles the sound of a flute. It sings mainly at dawn and in the afternoon. The song serves to demarcate territory and, in the case of males, to attract the female. The female also sings, but at a much lower frequency than the male.
