Great effort...but I almost can't beleive it, the curse of 1998 is still here. As much as I wanted to see a Brasil vs Portugal, I congratulate FRANCE wholeheartedly BRAVO!!!!!!!! Anyway this is a tired old cliche from (yet another) damaged old negative with the fog perhaps adding some interest to a view most people have already photographed many times before. A sad weekend for south america, the seemingly undefeatables have been defeated, this photo is dedicated to Thierry Henry.

Il me semble que les supporters Brésiliens vont s'unir à leurs ancètres les Portugais pour le prochain Match France Portugal mercredi prochain.
Que le meilleur gagne.

Hej Tan,
Great view over Rio de Janeiro, nicely composed. The colours are nice, I mostly like the deep blue of the sea. The clouds are a fine detail too.
A good dedication to Henry, it was a great match tonight and France really deserved to win, I think. Thanks for sharing this picture.
Hilsen,
Lars

Tan ,

Hello Tan! Nice shot! Always a nice POV!
Brazilians are really sad, because we love football and, specially the poor people, doesn´t have much more to be proud. But here we know that our team doesn´t played well since the first game, and our "stars" are too much interested in their vanity, maybe thinking that the sixth star was coming easy from the sky. Les bleu played better football again and deserves the match with Portugal. I like France and their people a lot, but I have "Leal" and "Hauer" in my last names, so Portugal and Germany raise naturally like second and third options.
Let´s think about the new generation for 2010!
Best Regards,
Zeca

Hello Tan,
Best regards.
Daniel.

Nice, sharp view of Rio. Good composition and beautiful colors. Despite the expectations after the first round, I believe that France, and specially Zidane, played a good match and deserved to win. I'm supporting Germany, but, so far, we have never won against Italy at a World Cup :-(. Regards, Yvonne

It may be a usual shot, but it's very well executed. I like the clouds hanging around the mountains, which gives this that little something extra. Great colour and contrast too, whcih gives this a very snally appearance. Well done!

Hi Tan,
Great view of Rio from sky !
Good luck to France and see Brazil next time maybe the 6th cup in 2010...
Christophe

Hi Tan, it's a fine shot & has your signature high viewpoint over an interesting location. I can see where the scan has been less than successful at the top of the image, an unfortunate side effect of the process sometimes. The colours are good though, good contrast between blue, white & green.

Hi Tan,

Superb mood that you have captured here. Excellent shot. Excellent composition, great colours. I like the way you have framed the image.
With Greetings from India

very nice work here, I like the mountain view, very good shot indeed, well done

Hi Tan. Yes well done France, it will not be quite the same though. Nice sharp busy image, you have caught the urban spread quite well.
TFS. Cheers, Paul.

Superb shot Tan...again the brilliant "Tan-esque" POV..what I really like is how the cityscape merges with the sea...superb are the clouds, which hang over the loaf mountain. Excellent sharpness as usual

Hello Tan,
it may have been photographed several times, but I have never been there and it is the first time I see it. I did not travel as much as you but I can say that I have never seen such a view. We can see how high you were with those nice clouds on the right. I like how the colors are saturated. Unfortunately, we can feel the age of the negative. But still, this one is really nice!

Marc

Excellent pov to say goodbye ! The cliche seems to be as old as french players are, and as effective as them ;=)
Funny and pertinent post.
Thanks.
Stéphane

Allez les bleus !!! Les Brésiliens à la maison !!
de même que la photo de Musandan, j'ai uploadé la même photo sur trekearth... Great minds think alike... :-)

Bien vu.

Tan,
wonderful picture!! I like the POV in this A LOT, the view has made this image exceptional. The picture is sharp with good details of the buildings even some roads. The blue serene water contrasting with the busy land tainted by humans has been captured well, and I like this fog that is engulfing part of the city! It can somewhat symbolize how Brazil has been engulfed by sadness because it lost..! The rich colors have been captured well and your view of the city is great.
Good job
TFS

Hi Tan,
An inspiring view with this good recovered photo. I like the clarity and perspective, as one can discern each individual builiding. The deep blue of the sea and the enigmatic clouds really enhance. Well captured.

Hi Tan,
Another amazing photo. It must be quite a feeling beeing up there staring at such scenery! I like the dark blue of the ocean and the billowing cloud on the right. Too bad the other cloud is hiding the Sugar Loaf. C'est la vie!!
TFS.

wouaw, magnifique !
Belle composition colorée.

Hi Tan ,

What a magnificent view....TFS
