Castro's Cathedral is considerated like a treasure of mankind. There are many old churches build in wood inside Chiloé island but this one isn't so old. Despite this is a marvelous building built in the first years of 20th century using the traditional technics. This same cathedral was destroyed by pirates, earthquakes and fire many times since it was build first time at 16th century. This building we can see now is build in native woods covered with metal plaques. A sunny day like this one isn't an so usual view in Chiloé, where rainny days are very usual.

A catedral de Castro é considerada patrimônio da humanidade. Existem muitas igrejas de madeira mais antigas na ilha Grande de Chiloé mas esta conserva muito da tradição local. A catedral foi erguida no início do século 20 mas antes dela muitas outras foram destruídas por piratas, terremotos e incêndios. A primeira catedral data do século 16 mas o edifício que vemos hoje foi erguido com madeiras nativas e cobertos com placas de metal. Um dia ensolarado como este não é típico da ilha de Chiloé, onde os dias chuvosos são mais comuns.

Good point of view for this interesting piece of church architecture!
The angle of light is effective in adding depth to the structure, and the colour of the building stands out well against the fine blue sky...
