Photographer's Note

Volcano Osorno, seen in the background, is 8,701 feet (2,652-meters) tall and is located between Osorno Province and Llanquihue Province, in the Los Lagos Region of Chile. It stands on the southeastern shore of Llanquihue Lake, and also towers over Todos los Santos Lake. Volcano Osorno is a symbol of the local landscape and is noted for its similar appearance to Mount Fuji. It is one of the most active volcanoes in the southern Chilean Andes Mountains, with 11 historical eruptions between 1575 and 1869. The upper slopes of the volcano are covered almost entirely with glaciers. The natural beauty of this area is breathtaking encompassing crystalline lakes, lagoons, waterfalls, evergreen forests and abundant wildlife.
