Photographers Note
Another day in Torres del Paine National Park. The weather is changing day after day, hour after hour. After days of rain, snow and even (!) sun we have experienced this great day with my favorite clouds on the sky above the Torres del Paine peaks.
As masses of air move, they reach obstacles, like mountains, at some point. They get turbulanced and with an upward movement of air, altocumulus lenticularis clouds arise. Position of clouds like this often depends on the wind direction (they arise in the same places). I was working in Antarctica as a meteorologist and I was watching some of this clouds, and looking if they were in the same positions.

Hello Piotr,
Thanks for those photos from the other side of the world. This shape of clouds is incredible and the use of the polarizer increased the contrast between the white clouds and the deep blue sky.

A most unusual and beautiful shot! I would have said it was too dark, except that the little bit of light brown mountaintop, right where the diagonals are pointing at, makes the whole thing work.
Great capture!

Hey Piotr,
I've never seen such cloud formation, looks like an inverted landscape of snow. Graphic nature imagery, solid colour patches of white and blue makes an attention grabbing photo! Nice!

Hi Piotr,
When I was looking for members who live in Chile; I chanced across this stunning photo. One of my favorite photos of Mt Shasta, California has a lenticular cloud but I have never in my life seen anything like this one. It truly seems to be from another space. In more recent times I have tried to limit my favoritesw to photos that have not recieved that honor but for this photo, I must make an exception. I want to be able to find it always.

This version is fantastic too, maybe even more impressive as we seem to be closer to the clouds, and what I find fantastic is the very tiny bit of sun shining up there giving light to one of the mountains. I know the Foehn in our Alps but they never bring these huge ships like these boys up there :) But I know how they feel when flying ... very dangerous and a stupid thing to do, they can easily flip you over. Your blues by the way are amazing, they have something stingy. Excellent photo, I really love it. Barbara.
