Retrospective Busto Of Woman
Museum Botero - Santa Fé de Bogotá
.......................................................................
The Botero Museum is located in La Candelaria, the historical and cultural center of Bogotá (Colombia). It houses a large collection of works donated to Colombia by the artist Fernando Botero, with the intention of spreading the arts and culture in his native country.
Of works, 87 are for your personal collection of universal art and the rest, about 123 pieces, were made by the same artist.
Since the late sixties, the Colombian artist Fernando Botero was a prominent art collector. Initially pre-Columbian pieces, then colonial art and more recently in drawing, painting and modern sculpture universal.
Until 1999, all collections are scattered in the artist's apartment in New York, Paris, Monte Carlo and Pietrasanta, in addition to a deposit in a Swiss bank.
To emphasize, there is a room devoted to European artists of the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. This area includes the oldest work of the "Gypsy With Tambourine" Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, pre-impressionist artist.
Impressionism, there are two oil paintings by Pierre Auguste Renoir, a view of Amsterdam by Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro and oil paintings of Gustave Caillebotte and Edgar Degas sculpture. Botero It recognized the difficulty of buying works of post-Impressionist artists (Van Gogh, Seurat, Cézanne) due to its high cost in the art market.
Another room opens a sculpture by Salvador Dalí (photo) dated 1933, of which there is a version on the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Although Botero acknowledges that he does not like Dalí, he admits that bought this piece because he believed it helped to "complete" collection.
Personally, this bust of a woman, I loved it. Although always regarded as a painter Dalí exotic, extravagant and difficult to understand this expression of art presented in this sculpture, which shows I was out of a series.
Amicably, John

Hello, John. You have a black background which makes the sculpture stand out very well. The lighting on her face is very good and this allows us to see many details. The black frame you've created complements the picture very well.
Have a nice day,
Philippe

Hola John.

TFS, Un abrazo,
José
