Cathedral Of The Immaculate Conception

And along our journey through the beautiful land santandereanas, and again by publicizing the architectural wealth of churches and cathedrals, we return to charming city of Barichara.

As we said in previous deliveries, for many years in this town known for its streets and keep certain monuments, such as which were conceived in stone.

And of course, their most important religious symbol, could not be the exception.

In 1,702 appears the image of the Immaculate Conception of Mary on a rock lime. At the same site was erected a chapel built footprint of wall, tile and little adornment to worship the Virgin. At around the first houses were built.

At the time, this small chapel, with the thrust of Dr. Martin Pradilla and Ayerbe, became a temple.

By the year 1,802 died Dr. Pradilla and is buried in the presbytery of the temple, which already received the name of the Temple of the Immaculate Conception of Barichara, now regarded as one of the most beautiful of Colombia, paying particular attention to the work in stone and that the ten monolithic columns the claim.
