Henhouse Park is located on an island formed by the river Fonce and creek Curití, very close to the municipality of San Gil in the Department of Santander.

It covers an area of four (4) hectares of land cultivated with a good number of trees called "henhouse" on whose branches hanging moss or beards, where you can walk in the shade, as well as leafy ceiba, anaco and other species, with wide variety of shrubs and gardens.

The addition Henhouse Park is the only natural park within an urban perimeter in Colombia.

The park opened on December 13 1985 and has also received the name of Belle Island Nature Reserve, because it is always surrounded by water. Curití lead to the gorge on the river Fonce, opens in three arms, forming deltas of the scenic park.

All the land is cultivated with 1867 trees, which 80% are called "henhouse" and whose branches are born mosses Tilladesia Usnoides that extend to form long and elegant drapes.

In this shot, on the banks of the river Fonce, that people wanted to stay in the picture, to pretend that she has a reference point on the scale of length which have the "beard" hanging from the trees.

Hello John,
Intersting composition to show a park, good pov to show two species of big trees with different types of leaves growth side by side and merged harmonious, relaxing environment, distinct color in a sunny day, good shoot.

Una preciosa fotografía con los arboles llenos de musgos los cuales he tratado de poner en los arboles de mi patio y no se me dan, los encuentro muy lindos. La composición es estupenda. Me gusta mucho la vista de la grama con las personas paradas para referencia del tamaño, la presencia del río detrás esta muy bien visto. La iluminacion, tu POV y colores son magníficos igualmente que la buena definición.

Hola John,

I remember this kind of trees also here in Suriname and one more different type with thin mosses under the branches of tree. I'll try to post a photo of it if I can find a good one.

Your view is amazing as same every time, visitors in green and they are at water side. Mosses are eye catching all over frame nicely. The lady, probably in authentic dressed is an excellent addition too. Congratulations. Have a nice new week.

Hello John, The light gives pretty zones shade/sun and emphasizes well the lines of ceiba whose trunks in spiral are so particular, very good framing formed by foams Tilladesia Usnoides, this decoration ideal for is focused the glances and to make interesting the beauty of the place, people are placed in a balanced unit, for a very pretty sight which contrasts well with its own title, a pretty photograph with nuances of colour very sympathetic nerves on a bottom beard which closes the image ideally, sincerely ...............Bonjour John,
La lumière donne de jolies zones ombre/soleil et met bien en valeur les rangées de ceiba dont les troncs en spirale sont si particulier, très bon cadrage formé par les mousses Tilladesia Usnoides, ce décor est idéal pour focalisé les regards et rendre intéressante la beauté de l’endroit, les gens sont placés dans un ensemble équilibré, pour une très jolie vue qui contraste bien avec son propre titre, une jolie photo avec des nuances de coloris très sympathiques sur un fond beard qui ferme idéalement l’image, bien amicalement

interesting picture of the unusual trees! I like the composition and the whole sunny-shady atmosphere created in the photo :)
The people are a good addition to show the real size of the trees (as well as the red colour of their clothes is a ncie "red element" enlivening the photo ;))

I personally thank you for this wonderful image for the introducing of this lovely tree "henhouse" which I first encountered for it's beauty! they do makes a lovely scenery along the river and a great spot for a picnic!

Hola John,
estas cortinas vegetales colgando de los árboles son muy interesantes gráficamente, pero tú has sabido aprovechar el efecto fantástico de la luz que penetra entre ellas y crea unas bonitas sombras en el suelo.
La gente a un lado del encuadre da dinamismo y la escala para ver las dimensiones de estos árboles.
Tu nota también es magnífica, un buen trabajo, amigo.

Una vista llena de luz y de calor.
Parece un sitio muy agradable y lleno de poesia.
Me gustan estos àrboles, llegando muy bajo, con mucho elegancia. Son una buena oportunidad para un juego de sombras sobre el verde del suelo.
