Cali - COLOMBIA
"The Sultana of the Valley"
------------------------------------------
Cali, (officially, Santiago of Cali) are the capital of the Department of the Valley of the Cauca in Colombia and the second city more populated with the country. The metropolitan area of Cali is conformed by the municipalities of Candelaria, Jamundí, Palmira and Yumbo and is between the 150 majors conurbations of the planet.
Santiago of Cali was founded on 1536, and although she is one of the oldest cities of America, until the decade of 1930 only accelerated his development, until becoming one of the main economic and industrial centers of the country and main urban, cultural, economic, industrial and agrarian center of the Colombian south-west.
The city has a name composed to traditional of almost all the Spanish foundations in America.
Santiago (one of the spread names more in the continent, thanks to the devotions of Santiago de Compostela in Spain), makes honor to the Santiago Apostle.
The name of Cali is a complete mystery, but it can have several readings: can come from the language paez "Caly" (woven without needles) or possibly it makes reference to one of the American towns indian- americans or to the name that it gave to the region and a river to the south of the city, " Lili" (in paez, "humid"). Also one has thought that they were indigenous Mexican to the service of the conquerors who gave the name to Cali, of the Aztec " calli" (" house") or possibly it is an origin word quechua introduced by the Yanaconas Indians who were brought by the founder Sebastián de Belalcázar from Ecuador, interpretation endorsed by the existence of an indigenous population of name " Cali Cali" near Quito.
The most probable etymology is the paez, since several names of the Valley of the Cauca find their meaning in that language.
For one more a more complete information on diverse aspects of this city that as much love I have to him (because it is my city):), I leave the following link them:
Santiago Of Cali
In this taking stands out downtown, with its bridges and buildings, and was taken from floor 42 of already the traditional Tower of Cali.
In a friendly way, John

Hey John
Perfectly managed light in this disproportionate distribution of light...seems exposure is just right to bring out a well balanced saturation of colours..from this high POV
Good use of the elements with the right perspective..think it gives the right depth the compo demands...well presented..i like it :)
Cheers

Hola John,
uma outra interessante tomada. A nitidez está muito boa, vê-se todos os detalhes das contruções e ainda sobre um espaço para apreciarmos o conjunto de montanhas ao fundo. Também vejo as cores de seu país pintadas em alguns muros. Belo trabalho!
Saludos,
Carlos

Very nice composition. It really gives one a feel for what the city of Cali looks like. One sees both the tall buildings, the roads, and the way it is set in the mountains. Well done!
Sincerely,
Kate

Hello John,
Excellent elevated point of view gives a fine impression of the layout of the city!
Sharp fine details in the architecture, colours are a bit muted due to the cloudy day but the overall impression is good...
Well framed with a fine feeling of depth!

Hola John,

Bonita foto.
Un abrazo,
Josep
