Photographer’s Note
In the center of Asuncion is the Panteon de Heroes, a large monument to the heroes from Paraguayan History. It is originally modeled after the Les Invalides in Paris and contains the remains of Francisco Solano Lopez as well as the remains of two unknown Paraguayan soldiers in honor of the many wars over the years. It is truly one of the more sacred spots in Asuncion and is guarded 24 hours per day in honor of those who died.
