Jour 15 au Pérou, visite du Machu Picchu. Le Temple du condor est une structure remarquable du quartier des morts, en particulier parce qu'il est encore plus intégré aux roches mères de la montagne. En effet l'architecture Inca s'intégrait aux courbes du terrain, pour éviter d'avoir à trop casser de rochers sans outils de métal ou pour mieux résister aux tremblements de terre? Qui sait... peut-être les deux, peut-être est-ce une indication de l'adaptation à l'environnement plutôt que de forcer une forme de maisons. ;)
Ça prend un peu d'imagination, mais on peut se représenter la forme du condor, la tête étant cette dalle par terre, et les ailes les 2 rochers déployés. Il y a plein de niches funéraires (pour les momies), incluant sous la structure. C'est pratiquement un miracle que j'aie pu réunir une photo composite en zig-zagde 4 images verticales sans grand angle et sans touristes, il en a fallu de la patience pour attendre le bon moment pour chacun des clichés (et j'étais littéarlement collé au mur opposé ;)
Devant le temple s'étend le quartier des ouvriers, avec une superbe vue sur la vallée de l'urubamba et un accès facile aux immenses terrasses d'agriculture le long de la montagne.

Day 15 in Peru, visit of the Machu Picchu site. The temple of the condor is a remarquable structure of the funeral quarter, particularly as it is integrated to the bedrock of the mountain. Apparently the Inca architecture used the terrain's curves, be it to avoid cracking too much rocks without metal tools or in order to better resist earthquakes? Who knows... maybe both, maybe it's an example of adapting to the environment instead of forcing a building shape on it. ;)
It takes a bit of imagination, but we can see the shape of the Condor, the head being this big slate on the ground and the wings those two deployed rocks over it. Tehre are lots of funerary niches (for the mummies), including under the structure. It is practically a miracle that I was able to pull together those 4 zigzaging vertical images without a wide angle and avoiding tourists, it took some patience to wait for the right moment on some of those shots (and I was litterally flat to the wall behind ;)
In front of the temple is the worker's residential quarter, with a superb view on the Urubamba river valley and easy access to the immense terraces along the mountainside. |

Hi Bruno,
Amazing to see the creativity of these people, as you say in your note you have to imagine the wings, when you do, you can see what the original artist saw, just incredible.

le condor est visible avant même de lire la note, il n'y a pas à dire ils étaient fort les incas dans leurs méthodes de construction , belle réalisation.
