Photographer’s Note
"The legend speaks of a fantastic lagoon far beyond the great mountains, a place of unspeakable beauty and mystery, where the gilded man became king." Like Shangri La in Tibet, El Dorado is the mysterious mythical paradise of South America. When you arrive in the magnificent Canaima National Park in Venezuela, you feel like you've become privy to the secret. It's a vast landscape of mysterious table mountains, with hundreds of waterfalls pouring off the cliff edges into pristine rainforests and lagoons below. It's a land of Jaguars, Toucans, Quetzals, and river dolphins. And the Pemon people that live there are among the friendliest I've ever met. It's one of the Earth's greatest natural treasures and a crown jewel of South America's famous wilderness parks.

Michael this is absolutely stunning shot! Is your camera the large format digital one or the slide one with digital back? The overall balance of the shot is impressive, well done!

Hi Michael, One of the best images I've seen on this site. Great diagonal composition and perfect exposure, resulting in both a good blur in the water and all the elements well presented. cheers, Steve

Hi Michael,
Slow waters it is! Did you talk with Gary McParland? One of the slow waters specialists here on TrekEarth. I especially like the little piece of trees to the top right of the water. That really creates a nice depth.
I like this, but it shows little of the landscape. But as a slow waters compo it works for me! You're running around with an interesting camera ;-).
Greetings, Dennis

Amazing, like the vast majority of your photos. Just come accross your gallery and it is unreal. You obviously go to some great places for photography, but even so, I don't think many people would come back with such quality images. Here, I love the slow shutter speed on golden water against such a blue sky - like somthing out of a fairy tale!

Hi Michae!
One more wonderful picture!
The blurred effect on the waterfalls (low shutter speed) made it fantastic, specially contrasting with the solid and still rock on the foreground! Besides that, in the background there's such a beautiful sky!
Just perfect!
TFS - Congratulations!

Fantastic shot Michael!
What a superb view. Lovely colours and tones of this beautiful falls in Canaima National Park in Venezuela. Good compo, contrast and just enough long time for a complete viewing pleasure and interesting effect with the water. Looks like a phantasy.
I enjoy it a lot and thanks for sharing!

What a brilliant diamond! Fantastic picture, a painting just for us! One second was a quite good time for this exposure. The processing, the great camera, the PoV as well as the sun's position behind the clouds, composed a terrific image directed by you! The power of the water and the colour are amazing!
Excellent work!

Michael
This is the first time I have seen your work but I like it, Ilike it a lot.
The slow effect on the waterfalls contrasting so much with the beautiful sky makes this a great image for me.
I look forward to seeing more of your work.
TFS,
Richard.
