Choroní Photo | TrekEarth

Photographer’s Note

I took this picture last sunday, in the village of Choroní, estado Aragua, Venezuela.

Crossing Henri Pittier Park, forty minutes drive from Maracay, there is one of the nicest villages on the Venezuelan coast: Choroni. This is a trip you enjoy from the very beginning, while you drive through the misty tropical forest, which by itself makes this journey worthwhile.
The name of the village is in honour of Santa Clara de Choroní.

But the enchantment of Choroní does not remain only in its streets, houses, large windows, rivers, affluents and beautiful beaches. Also their people radiate the warm that invites to share in this village.
Between the cultural manifestations are the ardent touch of the drum, with its exciting rythmical figures of the black dance.

Handheld with Image Stabilizer (IS), about 6:20pm, good weather.

Let me start with welcoming you here on TrekEarth. Yes,guess live would be pretty dull without any learning opportunities in it.
Wonderful softness in the sky and hard silouette-like tones in the foreground. The birds breaking the sky, the people adding dynamism. There is not really much to improve on this one photo-technically! So there goes your learning opportunity; you have to shoot worse pictures haha ;-).
Well, I would have done a small noise reduction on the front part on the picture in post processing. But that's all! Wonderful picture!

Jose, Welcome to TE and what an opening shot. Really nice photo, John said it well, "wonderfl clutter". The softness makes it look nearly painting like and I might have lke it harder but that is onl personal preference. I do like the birsd and their motion and the edge glow because of the back lighting. Overall great photo, and based on your inro note you may have a lot to show others here on TE.

Welcome to TE, Jose Miguel. This is a very good introduction. The photo has so much atmosphere and well placed birds in the sunset sky. I don't find the noise a problem, but a little more saturation would help. Good work and I hope to see more photos from your country and your camera!

Holà Jose Miguel,
A lot of action going on in this on despite the lack of light. I like how there are men (fishermen??) with all the boats. The 2 birds fill the negative space very well and the color of the sky is beautiful(though a little flat on my screen). My thought is that there may be too much boats at the bottom. They bring not much and give that sketchy feeling. I would crop the bottom, but it's impossible because of the man with the red shirt on the right...Unless you don't mind cloning him out, which would require some patience.
Please, go on posting pics:D And go on posting those deep critiques, they're very helpful to the community. We need people like you.

Veo que llevas poco en TE, por eso te doy la bienvenida y deseo disfrutes de este lugar.

Buena imagen para ser la primera, posee una atmósfera especial, elegiste un buena hora para tomarla, muestras el momento a la perfección, el cielo y las aves volando aportan un punto diferente al resto de la escena, quizás exista una falta de enfoque en algunas zonas y en otras un exceso de ruido, puede ser por el postprocesado o la compresión de la imagen, de todos modos un buen trabajo.

A real traffic jam of boats in the boottom of the picture. Nice viewx of the two birds, espcially the closer one. Otherwise, a nice color.
I thought this one was taken at dawn because of the pink overall color and got confirmation in your note.

What wonderful elements you add to this magnificent sunset. The cluttered beach with its many colorful boats and people milling around if there is urgent work to be complete before all light goes and of course great birds looking to get one last meal before days end.

Seeing as I live on the edge of the same ocean, with fishermen and gulls, this shot really speaks to me!

I am used to a more solitary scene, but sense a beat and excitement from your shot which is enhanced by the warm colours.

Hola José, great first post here on TE. It's a sunset picture, but it's not like many we see here. The foreground filled with all this fishing atmosphere is fantastic and there's also a very pleasant graphism from all these boats. And on top of that, you also got a big seagull upthere on the orange sky. Yes, very impressive capture. Congrats.

This was your first post in this site & what a brilliant one at that!...This sunset shot is different, especially because of the FG...cluttered, dark, filled with boats & people & then, the sereneness of the water & the sky bathed in the magical light of sunset. The flying pelican could not be better placed!
