Photographer's Note

On holiday in Andalucia, and visiting some of the world famous towns and cities of the area, I was totally unprepared for the magnificence of The Alcazar.

We had no guide for this visit, which actually allowed us to spend much more time looking and taking in all the glorious details.

The Royal Alcazar was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987.

"A Royal Palace originally developed by Moorish Muslim kings.
The palace is renowned as one of the most beautiful in Spain, being regarded as one of the most outstanding examples of 'mudejar' architecture found on the Iberian peninsula. The upper levels of the Alcazar are still used by the royal family as the official Seville residence. It is the oldest royal palace still in use in Europe."
