*MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009*

This picture is taken middle of Drongengoed forest, the geese and sunbeams are for me the most attractive moment for this picture.
As in most of Western Europe, the landscape in the Meetjesland long time remained unchanged. Only after the Industrial Revolution, and particularly after the Second World War, has undergone significant changes. The transformation of an agrarian-craft "in an" advanced-industrial "society has occurred during the second part of the twentieth century, accelerated by put. The traditional cultural Meetjesland it is transformed into a modern, industrial-agricultural landscape. In this landscape are the traces of history here and there is still perceptible here on my last photograph.

Hi John,

I really enjoy the high key look of this image. It is a simple and interesting moment near the forest. The geese really make this one lively. It my be heresy to some but my personal favorite part of your image is that the sky has gone completely white. So many people in this digital world have the idea that "blown highlights" are some sort of ultimate sin or something. I say that there are times when clipped highlights or blocked shadows are appropriate and this image is one of those occasions. Really nice John.

The lighting in this shot is simply magical.
It almost looks as if the sun is setting right behind the trees.
Beautiful 'rust' colours in the trees. Very well captured.

I like the image very much, I agree with you, the rays of sun coming through the trees is very pretty.
Certainly much more of a high key look than your normal images, but in this case I think it works well. The smoke/fog in the air contributes to the effect perfectly
As usual superb composition and POV, I like this very much.

Wow, what beautiful soft light! This photo has a very unusual quality, seeming almost unreal, but so light and delicate. The geese add a nice bit of life and action to the shot, providing a good counter point to the trees on the other side of the frame. Well done!

Another pretty pleasant picture of yours!
The highlight in here are the sun beams passing through the branches of the trees with autumnal colors and also reaching the morning fog which has created such a magical atmosphere, where we can feel the freshness of a typical morning! The geese are a plus to the image, adding a bit of humor to it in my opinion, which I also like!

Je me souviens parfaitement de ton premier post sur un autre joyeux groupe d'oies, la luminosité était différente, mais ici j'aime beaucoup ce voile de lumière qui donne une certaine légèreté à cette scène. On ressent bien, malgré le sort, qui, j'imagine leur est réservé, leur joie de vivre à les voir courir ici. Jolie composition, merci John.

Beautiful photo! I like the great luminosity and the brilliant effect of the light that crosses the trees and that illuminates the frosted ground, but that it seems that they do not like to the geese ;o)

Ik kan bijna de lichte vrieskou, die bij dit zachte winterochtendlicht hoort, op mijn huid voelen. De ganzen nieuwsgierig naar die fotograaf die hen komt storen lijken langzaam uit het beeld te lopen.
De zachte pasteltinten stemmen vredig. Een heel mooie sfeervolle foto

Hi John,

The geese are running away from the cold. The diagonal line made by the trees is an asset to the composition. The early morning ligfht and the rays of the sun have a special effect on the scenery and are enhancing the colors of it. Have a nice day.

Bonjour John, une chose est certaine, si les paysages demeure inchangé le caractère belliqueux de ces oies à quant à lui pris de la vigueur, et ces animaux sont plus efficaces que des chiens de gardes,
Une scène des plus champêtre pour fêter Noël et cette nouvelle année sans gouvernement qui se profile, les rai solaire qui fuse et servent de fond à cette scène est agréable et allège l’image, bien amicalement et je te souhaite beaucoup d’inspiration pour 2009

Hi, John -

Nice composition, well organized, the geese even cooperating (something geese never do!). And of course the streamers of sunlight are a great touch. I think you might try applying Levels, though, pushing the left slider in about 5 points, to get more depth in the shadows. See the WS I posted.

A nice scene of the geese, but I suppose the light is more interesting here, whether it is bright light, fog or overexposure, the effect is quite unique.

Hallo John,
Een prachtige foto waarop je duidelijk de koude van de winterochtend voelt.
De nachtvorst op de weide is nog zichtbaar. Alhoewel reeds december hebben de bomen nog heel wat mooie goudbruine bladeren. De zonnestralen vallen prachtig in, bijna over de hele breedte van de foto. Ook het bos in de verte oogt mooi en wat geheimzinnig. De ganzen zullen waarschijnlijk flink kabaal gemaakt hebben maar brengen leven in deze bijzondere foto.

Golden leaves...and golden light: a charming countryside atmosphere enhanced by the presence of the geese. A simple composition which transports us into another epoch and environment.

The light rays falling diagonally across the frame is a delight to watch. Beautiful how we see the autumn trees in the BG & of course the gaggle of geese, who are highlighted by the sun rays. Wonderful shot!

Olá John, gorgeous light, lovely soft colors and funny inclusion of the happy family at the corner coming towards you to say hello ;-) Maybe I would like to see a bit more of contrasts and saturation as suggested in both WSs but nevertheless, the mood from those beams of light is fantastic.

WOW.
Funny the action of ducks and dramatic the lights in the background trepassing the autumn leaves.

The contrast between the fun in the foreground and the "sadness" of the background is surreal and effective.

I haven´t occasion to see this very proper photography to feast the Christmas epoch. It is of a magic beauty with these so soft colors, the sunbeams filtering between the trees, The brilliant flock of ducks.

Hi John,

I really like what you did with the lighting in this photo (lots of post-editing, I presume?). You took what would otherwise have been a washed-out sky and over exposure and turned it into something beautiful: that is, a dreamy, peaceful, picturesque feeling full of light and joy. Great job!

Wonderful rustic shot, John!!
I think it shall be not easy make this capture in Belgium, the country with highest urban population rate in Europe - 97,2%!!! (talking only about the real countries, not including a small sovereign city-states as Monaco or San Marino).

The picture is very fine with impressive sunlights effect!!
