Photographer’s Note

The way Heidelberg balances the tried and trusted with the modern and contemporary really makes it stand out. Its diversity is everywhere to see, from the beautiful old quarter, ultra-modern architecture and Germany's oldest university, to the trendy student scene and the tranquil surrounding landscape...
The Print Media Academy is one of the ultra-modern wonders of the city, full of metaphors and symbols that allude to printing processes and the history of the graphic arts. It is a 50-meter-high transparent cube, and in stark contrast to the geometrical shapes of the building, the " S-Printing Horse " in the open area in front of the Print Media Academy makes a playful impression. Measuring 13 meters in height, 15 meters in length and four meters in width and weighing 90 metric tons, it is the world’s largest horse sculpture...

Very interesting and odd horse. I like how you've chosen a rather skewed angle to incorporate the horse into the frame. The colors are great and vivid as well.

Heidelberg'e gittiğini duyunca hep beklemeye başlamıştım, şaraptan sonra en ünlü ikinci ürünü Heidelberg'in , matbaa makieneleri ne zaman gelecek diye ! İşte vira bismillah !
Teknoloji bundan daha güzel anlatılabilir mi ?

Still waiting for the WS2...although huge this lovely creature is more than enough for the season's greetings. I wonder if it can move around or even dance a bit...it doesn't seem very coordinate with the legs though. I like the way you two diferent POVs make it seem like diferent 'monsters'. The WS is clearly a horse. Very interesting place, even if too cold for me. Keep showing it for us, krkt.
Ok, now I can see the strange merry go round in WS2. What the hell are all the people doing in that freezing place?! Nice circunference in FG...

This is very well executed, Korkut. It's very dynamic; the frame is really filled with color and activity. The reflection of the "cobalt hour" blend really nicely with the yellow and red of the artificial light, and then the "horse" adds the dynamism. A visual feast! Regards, Ken.

Merhaba Korkut,
Quite intriguing sculpture and you made a very original and interesting compo with it, taking very good profit of the shapes, light and colours. I like how the lack of sense of scale doesn't give us any clue of the size or location. It looks much like a close-up of a much smaller object taken in an interior. That doesn't happen in the WS, which is also very achieved, but less abstract. I like also the Season's Greetings' card.

This looks just the sort of place where you would be in your element. ;D The big difference to your usual style is the vibrant and striking colours. I looked at your alternative and think I can see why you would prefer this one, as there is an 'almost' symmetry to the way you have composed it.

Hi Korkut,
It's difficult to photograph well such a big and articulate sculpture. I miss a bit the head of the horse, but I also agree with you uploading this version because the other one (in your ws) seems to me a bit empty.
Your timing was perfect, the lights of the sunset created beautiful colours on the glass windows and the sculpture.

I really can't tell what it is that I am seeing right now, but I know it's impressive, with some blinding colours and unusual shapes. Are you sure this is Heidelberg, I had a more "classical" image in my mind about this city! Anyway, brilliant photo, congratulations!

Hello Korkut! Quite a horse here :))) It needs some imagination in the beginning but it is a great construction no matter what it is, colorful, funny, huge, a little scary too, I am kind of glad it does not move. Great approach, you have to move your head but this does not hurt sitting in front of the pc for hours, a little pc gymnastics for a change. Great stuff, you are full of ideas. a blast of colours in my face!
Trully magnificent shot with glass facade mixing reflecting scenery and inside ambients.
With included scultpure it reminds me of Picasso..probably for great abstraction and graphism.
