Photographer’s Note

Busy little warf on the working Vinalhaven Island. The local lobster fishermen provide a unique charm to this island of 1,200 year round residents. As long as there are fishermen earning their living from the sea this island will keep its identity. Without them this island (12 miles off the coast of Maine) would just be another tourist trap full of Yuppie shopping outlets.

Hi Tom,
Thankfully it is no Camden; it's nice to see there are still a few working fishing ports left. Color and detail are excellent with the reflection putting it over the top.
I was sorry to hear about your lost Christmas post as I viewed Fulvio's card.

Lovely fishermen village, simple but characteristic. The cosy coloured wooden houses make an attractive composition together with the wharf and the reflections. A bright photo in all senses.

I really like this one because of the colorful wooden houses on top, with excellent sharpness and management of light! The bottom part of this image is also interesting because of the clarity of the water and the reflection! The whole composition is pretty pleasant, eye-catching and very nice!

Hi Tom.
Very pleasing light and colour in this one as usual. The wavy reflection looks great, and the whole thing has a delightful nautical sort of jumble about it, with boat up for repairs, the blue tarp, the palettes on the left. Maybe some could be cropped off the bottom where that shadow is quite large. Wonder what this scene looks like now, three months later.

Bonjour,
belle photo de ce port ou l' on répare ces bateaux.
Bien vu ce coin intéressant avec ce bateau visible, avec ces maisons de toute beautés et les reflets dans cette eau calme et légèrement agitée, ce qui donne un petit mouvement aux réflections.
Jolies couleurs naturelles, bon POV et bonne netteté.

A good shot of the little village and the typical buildings that we would see on the east coast. You are right as much as I enjoyed my visit to Mackinac Island in Michigan it was one gift shop or fudge shop after another.
