Photographer’s Note
See the large version for a panoramic view.
The surroundings of San Marco in Venice have been photographed a zillion times.
However, I still found it irrestible to take this wide angle view of the piazzetta de San Marcos.
This photo was taken from the far end of the balcony of San Marco, and by stitching several photos together.
From left to right are shown the Doge's Palace, the granite colums with the statues of St. Mark represented by a lion, of St. Theodore represented by a crocodile, and the Biblioteca Marciana.

It is a fine panorama, Paul, and its shear scope gives a freshness to this well loved view. It is also a fine demonstration of the image stitching technique. regards Kevin

Hallo Paul:
I selected this picture of yours to comment because it is a panoramic, as the one I posted yesterday and you commented.
How many pictures you stitched together here? I am curious.
In the LP we can see a lot of details: the people walking down there, the tables to the right side, the decorations of the façade to the left, and even the pigeons.
A very good work.
In regard to your question to my picture, I could shoot the picture at 1/5s withouth any tripod, bean bag or even resting on a wall, because my camera, a SONY DSLR, has a feauture that helps stabilize the image at low shutter speeds. Of course, some pictures, even with this feature, end up blurred, so it is not a perfect thing. But in that picture it helped a lot.

Jürgen

Hi Paul,
this is for sure the best POV to see the Piazzetta San Marco. The only contraindication is that here you have the sun in front. Even more so your result is noticeable! You could not have obtained a better result, unless using a strong gradient filter in front of your lens.
Congratulations, Dario.

Perfect photo!
I remember this place so vaguely - despite the fact that I was there twice - and your photo are kind of reminded me about Venice.
Great work!
