Photographer’s Note

Finally some snow in the southern coastal area of Finland too. I went to walk in the park on the river bank of Mankinjoki river, which I have shown you in some other shots taken not far from this spot. The current photo and this are shot at the opposite ends of the slower running rapids section. Another winter view is here.

The old historical bridge and the Espoonkartano manor are only 150 metres from the place, where I took this photo.

Espoo has two notable rivers Espoonjoki and Mankinjoki and some minor ones,closer to brooks. However, these two rivers are minor rivers both in length and in water flow compared to many other rivers in Finland. Mankinjoki starts from a shallow lake Loojärvi and runs 6.7 km before it reaches sea.

Good morning, Lasse!
A wonderful near to nature scenery! It doesn't look like a park. I like this beautiful scenery after snowfall when the air is clean and fresh and everything is "powdered". Let's have a walk there now ... ;-)

Hej Lasse,
I like the composition here where the snow covered branches make a very intricate pattern. The line that the river makes is also an important part. Just looking at the thumbprint I thought this was a B&W photo, but it clearly says "Color". But this must still be a very typical scene from a "grey day"!

Hello Lasse,

the previous one was sweet... this one feels sad. The B&W and those naked branches convey a melancoly mood, (at least to me) really a cold winter scenery. Northern wilderness I'd call it.
The only thing which is missing are the wolves! (:-

indeed it seems a B&W but instead they are the colors of the winter and the cold, stupendously captured in your photo. The image is done very well, with a perfect sharpness. A photo to also be seen in August :-) Bravo!

Ciao Lasse. Una atmosfera simile l'abbiamo vissuta nelle ultime settimane anche qui in Nord Italia. Molto realistica e gran bel dettaglio.

Hello Lasse,
I'm viewing this photo on the screen of my laptop, and it looks rather like a B&W image (maybe it would look diffrent on the screen of the desktop monitor?)
Anyway, in some places winter has only two colours - black and white - and some of the shades of these two colours.
I like this view, it looks beautiful and tranquil, but also a little bit chilly :)

The last days I have the same inspiration with you..Snowy picture..I like the snow,
the snowy countryside,the nature scenery,
the simplicity of this image,the beauty of the snow which covers everything
