Sydney's Monorail Photo

Photographer’s Note

This monorail has a circuit of a few kilometres from CBD across to Darling Harbour. It has been a controversial addition to the city ever since being built. Taken just close to QVB (Queen Vic Building).

A note from their website provides the actual route:
Sydney Monorail travels through the City and winds its way above Chinatown, the Spanish Quarter, over Sydney’s main street, George Street, takes you through the shopping heart of the City. The Monorail then travels past the historic Queen Victoria Building to the entertainment and dining mecca of Darling Harbour.

I have been on that monorail many years ago and I thought it was a great way of going around the city. It is fantastic how we always find people against everything and anything! It is human, I believe.
It is a very nice shot certainly taken on a weekend. Well done.

Hi Murray,

The presence of the persons has an effect of scale. The daigonal line made by the monorail and the reflections in the windows are assets to the composition. The trees are framing well the building. The luminosity is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Murry. I was not aware that Sydney had a monorail. Looks very futuristic. Tfs and the interesting note.

Hallo Murray,
I like such a way of transportation. Although it is situated above ground it takes minimal space and is friendly for the vegetation and architecture around it. This is shown very well in the picture. It is also seen that the monorail vehicle is designed well, with a good harmony with architectural concept of the city. You have captured these perfectly well. Very good job!
