hello Michele,
great capture. So much colour. I like the way the burka billows out and the way the feet are exposed. Somehow her humanity shines through despite the red shroud.

Hello Michelle,
Pretty daily life photo you have here. It's colorful and bright. The red burka shows fresh environmnet since I only knew blue burka. Have nice shots,
Henny.

You don’t often see travel photos of Afghanistan, let alone good ones. This one is almost exactly same as one of my favourite photos from Wojciech Jagielski’s excellent book on Afghanistan, which you may not have heard about – this other one was also a woman in burqa against a mosque in Mazar-e-Sharif! Anyway, it’s a lovely shot and a coutry which I would certainly like to visit one day.

Excellent composition. The flow of motion against the multi-colored wall adds drama. Too bad the focus is not correct. But all and all this is a great shot.
Cheers!

Hello Michele,
I saw this picture at today's "featured destinations", Balkh. I had to take a look because I had myself posted several old pictures from that area. This is one of those photos that are not technically perfect but have qualities that make them outstanding (and probably very dear memories to the photographer). I love the unusual red burqa and the way it flows in the wind, and I love how it matches the beautiful tiles.
I have the same personal affection for a photo from the garden of that mosque. It is almost as old as yours, but it was one of the first pictures I scanned and neither the colours nor the sharpness are perfect. Still I like it very much. You can see it here:

Kind regards,
