Photographer’s Note

This picture shows the Royal Albert bridge.
May I first say that the angle of the picture is not an attempt to be arty but rather that it was taken quickly to capture the moment and holding the camera over a high fence.
The bridge was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and construction started in 1853 and completed in 1859. It is a bowstring suspension bridge and carries one railway line. It crosses the River Tamar that is, in part, the border between the English counties of Cornwall and Devon.
It is 1100 feet long and when it was proposed the Royal Navy insisted that it had to be high enough for its ships to pass underneath (Sailing ships in those days).
It is still in use today.

Hi Mike.
Interesting tilted shot, with good placement of the boat and its wake, and good detail on the bridge. Sharp and nicely toned contrast. Perhaps the hasty composition leaves a little too much water in the picture, but it certainly creates a great sense of space and height. Well done and good choice of b/w. Good note too.

Your LX3 is making wonders - not only the camera of course, it's really a great framing IMO.

Hello Mike, the b/w suits this subject very well.
I like the tilted angle.The sharpness is excellent.The placing of the boat was timed perfectly, and you have the bonus of its wake creating a pattern and leading the eye to the bridge.
