Photographer’s Note

He saw the communists come and go, wasn't touched by the destruction in the days of the fall of the pyramid games and was a withness of the days of King Zog.
This old man in the (Albanian) Greek village of Dhermi was very relaxed and speaking very good Italian like a lot of old people in Albania.

Ben onder de indruk wat die Powershot hier uit weet te persen. Scherpte is absolute top, net als de detailering in zijn kleding en vooral in de huidtinten. Pose and kadering vind ik ook erg mooi, lijkt bijna een man van stand en naam....heel erg mooi, misschien wel één van je beste..!!!!

Prachtig portret, buurtje! Sta ik ook even van te kijken van wat de Powershot hier geflikt heeft... afgezien van de perfecte belichting : haarscherp en barstenvol detail. Zeer sterk fotowerk, petje af! Ik wens je nog een fijne dag, de hartelijke groeten uit de Czaar Peter.

Ce portrait est superbe. Il n'y a, semble-t-il, que du naturel dans l'expression et les gestes. On peut regretter que la main droite ne soit pas entière mais le reste est excellent.

Fantastic close portrait, Gerrit. One of the bests I've seen lately. His expression of pleasure, chating while remembering the past, the details of his coat with blue buttons, the fine contrast with the white wall...very nice indeed.

Hes is cute! It would be so nice to see more of his eyes, but anyway having his natural profile is good enough. Love his clothes and the cane is a nice touch. I guess a B&W would maybe work well in the picture.

I find your "old" pictures from Albania very interesting, since I recently returned from there myself. Old men, like this nice gentlemen, still look the same as three years ago, but otherwise I think Albania has changed tremendously already in this short time. I found the modernization dynamic and dramatic, even beyond my belief.
