Photographer’s Note
"You won't be going out today" my morning visitor said, shaking the sleet from her coat. But I did go out later, and it was quite pleasant in spite of the strong east wind. No sun, but the lifeboat made a splash of warm colour tied up at the far end of Victoria harbour. At this time of year the tides are never too low for the lifeboat to leave the harbour, but at other times it has to tie up at Torness, a few miles away. This boat is the replacement for the one that was damaged beyond repair during a storm last Easter. Fundraising for it was a major activity in the town last summer. The RNLI is a voluntary organisation which gets no government subsidy - that is the way the volunteeers like it.
You can link to an impressive video of a 'shout' here.

Oh, Winifred,
it's wonderful! Perfectly composed with the bright colored boat in just the right spot, great lines, sharp detail and the frame picks up the color beautifully. Outstanding note, too. Many thanks and warmest regards,
Shelly

Hello Winifred,
I had missed this dramatic shot, the red tug boat against the dark background of a overcast day. How dramatic it is with the almost black background. The frame you've created holds the subject together effectively.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Winifred,Seen against the dark background the vivid orange boat lights up this shot very effectively. The lively dark blue sea gives just a hint of the conditions such a boathas to face. A well judged amount of orange in the border sets it off perfectly.
Best wishes....Maggie

HI Winifred,
I just happened to come across this excellent photo, which I apparently missed... But better late than never! I really like the colours and the minimalistic composition here. And a very good note with an interesting link. Thanks for sharing!
Kind regards
Gunnar
