Photographer’s Note

Yesterday I went to watch the sunrise in dunes. Unfortunatelly the conditions weren`t good to take photographs I wish to take, but next I visited the beach and finally I saw how the sea started to freeze. Only a few meters from the shore, but I haven`t seen it this year yet. I regret that you cannot hear the noise I heard. Not only the sound of waving water, but something like someone pour the grain, when the particles of ice grazed each other...:)

Świetna prezentacja zimy nad morzem. Nigdy o tej porze roku morza nie widziałam a widzę, że warto. Bardzo podoba mi się kompozycja na którą składają się długa i dynamiczna za sprawą wyżłobień i mocno podkreślonych tekstur śniegu perspektywa, zderzenie zatrzymanego ruchu fal z zastygłym śniegiem a to wszystko dopełnione przez fantastyczne światło i cienie.

I've never seen anything like this before. The texture and patterns of the frozen waves tinted by the early morning light are stunning. You even timed your shot well to catch a breaking wave in the background. Excellent shot.

I would say this is only salt or sand, not ice, but I believe in you, the sea is frozen despit I can't see any termometer around.hahaha.

Hello Henryk,

Splendid picture! Initially, i thought it was just a photograph of sea foam rather than ice. But what an unusual phenomenon. I have never seen sea water freeze in this manner, although my grandmother used to tell me that as a young girl, she saw the Bosporus freeze over. What was the approximate temperature on this occasion?

Nice feeling watching the frozen shore, Henryku: as if I took a step I could hear the ice breaking under my feet - very convincing textures :). Love the light, the dark color of the sea, the overall atmosphere - cold and 'thoughts-calming' for me; a walk would be just fine :).

I have never seen anything like this before. The frozen surf with their layering patterns, lit up by the early morning light is quite amazing. Fine contrast with the rolling waves in the left. Extraordinary spectacle...beautifully captured!

wow, this is incredible, Henryk. Surreal view at the shore. Can't even guess if this is frozen foam or snow but it's an imoressive artwork of nature. More like a frozen wave that got trapped in the sand. Tons of whipped cream for thousands of desserts ;-) Great light, superb capture.

2 lata temu szłam sobie nad morze...znaczy nad Zatokę:) A tam NIE MA MORZA! Cisza:) Znasz to uczucie?
I dwóch panów w starszym wieku opowiada sobie jak po wojnie zamarzło morze to można bylo sobie kilometr chodzić...

Wierzyć nie wierzyć...nastepnego dnia morze wróciło razem z mewkami;)

What a beautiful work with the waves piled liek frosting and frozen. The low light emphasizes the detail.
My husband's family is from Nova Scotia, and when I heard that lobster season didn't open on May 1 because the harbor was still frozen, I thought, that's WAAAY too cold for me when the ocean freezes.

Last time I saw something like that was Lake Michigan, where you could see what the weather had been on the days it froze from the waves on the uce. Excellent perspective and very good 3/4 frame that allows a great view of the frozen ice

Nie widziałam nigdy takiego Bałtyku. Te zamarznięte fale świetnie wyglądają. Pomyslkeć, ze kiedys podobno mozna było perzejsć do szwecji, zatrzymując się w karczmie, tak czytałam. Ty jak zwykle o świcie, ale w lutym to nie takie trudne. Piękne światło.
