Photographer’s Note

Pascale (Patdeph) asked for this mosque and here it is.The link shows well where it is situated.
My POV is in Kovalam about 200 meters south of the lighhouse.
Photo is taken early morning with the first sunrays at the sea.
Tommorrow I'll show the mosque,seen from Vizhinjam beach.

Lieber Leo! Ich liebe diesen leichten Dunst, vermischt mit etwas Seaspray ergibt es einen feinen wunderbaren weichen Filter. Toll wie das Wasser ans Ufer schiesst und das Glitzern auf der Welle vom ersten Sonnenlicht. Die Moschee ist wunderschoen, exotisch anders, die Palmen unterstreichen dieses Gefuehl. Wunderschoene Fotoarbeit, exakt umgesetzt. Toll. Schoenes Weekend, am Sortieren und Bearbeiten ... so denke ich :))) Barbara.

Superb, Leo!

The composition is great, and i like very much the brilliance of the wave in action. The soft hues of the pale day, and the waves foam give a strong mood to the shot. The timing that captures the wave at its highest is good... and I ignored there was a mosque in the area, (how old is it? do you know?) so i'm happy to learn something new!

Posted quite a lot of India shots I see! This is fantastic in how you caught the waves lashing on the rocks. The pastel lights, the mosque through the surf makes this wonderful...I haven't been to Kovalam for a long time & have no memory of this church. Excellent!

Hi Leo,

very moody composition. The haze really contributes for this attractive scenery. I also like how the waves fill the lower part and the semi-silhouettes of the palms and the mosque. Well done!

the mosque is still more beautiful that in my mind,maybe it's due to your excellent POV,the foggy atmosphere,and this splendid light you have on the waves and the rocks!This is a wonderful photo,nothing has changed around the mosque,and I can expect that when I will return,I will have a great feeling as the first time!You know what,now I hope to see some photos of the village on the other side!I have some slides,but,most of them are not very beautiful,I could try to make some scan!Anyway,I am looking to your photos with a great interest!

Hallo Andreas,

This is a real good one. It has it all. Light, an almost montone colour treatment, composition and most of all action with a great timing on those waves. Light on that wave on the right is perfect, it brightens up the whole image and is a perfect balance to the mosque. But also those palmtrees play an important role in the presentation, you did very well here, an image i also would like to make.
I see you used the 7.98 Tripod...perfect ;-)

This is a great composition.
The lower part of your composition is so full of energy, strength and movement with a little ray of light, just on the big wave.
While the upper part is sweat and quiet.

This is really India, with the mosque silhuette and the tall palm trees. The haze and particular hue makes a dreamlike composition. But the thing I like most are those fantastic waves crashing against the rocks - lit by the light- with the white sprays for the strong wind. A real oceanic view, in all senses. Well done,

Hello Leo,

This is a marvelous capture: the waves were frozen in the right moment, transmitting the most impact and showing nice spraying and golden reflections; the composition is very well balanced, with good use of thirds, silhouettes and duotone. Colors are really great and the foogy mood and combination of natural and cultural elements create such contrast and interest.
