WATCHING THE BIG ABYSS Photo

Photographer’s Note

I was in the same place where I took the last photo I posted here, that stone window is located at left of the girl but you can't see it in this image. I guess in this point we can see better the walls of basaltic stones and how deep is this abyss around Morro da Igreja Peak (1822 meters a.s.l.).
I liked more of that flat area, painted in gold, at the edge of the abyss. The girl was there with her husband, there were few tourists up there. This area is a militairy ground and sometimes air force close the area and their private highway. The ground around where the girl is placed is very humid and full of water, there are many strange plants there, used to live under very low temperatures and strong winds, walking there is very strange, the feet are like staying over a thick blanket.
How I told you, this is the coldest place of Brazil. Anyway this wasn't the most impressive abyss I saw during this trip, in some weeks I will show you others..

Este é basicamente o mesmo ponto onde eu estava quando fiz a última foto que postei aqui ontem. O famoso janelão de pedra está localizado à esquerda, mas vocês não o podem ver nesta imagem. Penso que aqui podemos apreciar melhor as camadas de basalto que criaram o paredão do abismo e acho que ele é mais impressionante visto deste ponto. Gosto muito daquela região plana e dourada mais ao fundo, com as suas beiradas dando para o precipício. Esta garota estava com seu marido, havia outros poucos turistas ali. A área é território da aeronáutica e vez em quando eles fecham o acesso a tudo, incluindo à sua rodovia privada. O terreno ao redor da garota é muito úmido e cheio de água, parece que a gente caminha sobre uma esponja gigante. Como já disse ontem, este é o lugar mais frio do país e estas plantas aqui são apropriadas ao clima gelado e aos ventos fortíssimos. Este não é o abismo mais incrível que vi nesta viagem, daqui algumas semanas mostrarei outros, ainda mais interessantes.

Hello Jorge,

It is a discovery for me to see this place. I was not knowing there were such landscapes in Brazil. Nice point of view with a good light and the woman to share the idea of the size.

A photo that shows very well this remarcable mountain landscape. You are right: it gives a good measure of the abyss thanks to the girl in the foreground. The light is so tender and even the shades are perfectly readible: a very good result.
Very good sharpness, contrast an colours: nearly in 3D.

Outra composição primorosa, sem dar destaque específico para este ou aquele elemento, mas, numa visão geral, cheia de cores, formas e texturas! Colocar a figura humana naquele ponto foi uma excelente idéia, dando contraste e dimensão à imagem! Parabéns, abraços e até logo!

I am worried about the girl too near the edge, but her white dress is a superb placement among the valley view of this wonderful scenery. You have placed her in the great position here to add such a powerful subject to the view.

Simplesmente fabuloso mais uma vez, Jorge. Estou desejoso de ver os outros abismos que tens para mostrar. A luz continua muito bonita e o detalhe do planalto é de facto interessante atraindo a nossa atenção antes de apreciarmos a sucessão de cadeias a perder-se ao longe. Boa inclusão da pessoa para escala, apesar de estar virada para o lado errado da composição ;-) Provavelmente está a olhar para o tal janelão - se se distrai ainda cai no precipício...

Jorge, great detail of such a dramatic landscape. The golden flat area looks an impossible walk away. My only criticism is that you did not include all of the ridge at the top left corner. Otherwise very good, Marlene
