Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken on a late afternoon walk on Second Beach in the La Push area in Olympic National Park in Washington State, USA.
About this photo: On this day we went to the Hoh Rain Forest in the morning as it was cloudy and drizzling a little. Later in the day it was clearing up and the sun came out. So, we decided to drive to the La Push area after dinner and hike the Second Beach Trail (it's a short hike of about 1.6km/1mi one way). You can find the sign of the trailhead along the road near La Push, you can't miss it. As we are walking along the beach I noticed this rock and this tidal pool on the beach. I also like the wet sand which created some nice reflections.

Some information on Olympic National Park: Olympic National Park is located on the Olympic Peninsula west of Seattle and in the most north western corner of the mainland of the USA. This park is such a diverse and amazing place to visit. No wonder they say it's 3 parks in one! You can enjoy the amazing surf and beautiful beaches, you will see a spectacular alpine country dotted with sparkling lakes, lush meadows, glaciers, waterfalls and North America's finest temperate rain forest.
Olympic National Park is a wilderness park with much of its interior accessible only by trail. A variety of roads lead off the major Highway (101) to various destinations around the park. There are several scenic drives including the drive to Hurricane Ridge, along the Pacific Coast and through the forested valleys of the Sol Duc, Hoh and Quinault Rivers. This all provide glimpses of Olympic National Park's diversity.

Hi Ann,
Very good place and timing as the light is playing with the seaside, the construction in the depth using the vertical framing is excellent, my preferred part ist the closest because these reflections on the wet sand deliver a very luminous impression.
Have a nice day JY

Bonjour Ann,
de toutes autres couleurs ici, moins chaudes, on retrouve les teintes océanes de jour avec un lieu que tu nous avais déjà présenté je pense.
Une photo bien partagée entre reflets et réalité, bien cadrée aussi avec un horizon décentré.
Excellent week-end.

Hi Ann
The reflection in the wet sand was well captured. Great FG interest that leads the eye to the rock formations.

Dag Ann,
mooie samenstelling. Van voorgrond tot horizon mooi gedefinieerd, een beetje zoals Peter Boehringer dat zo mooi doet.
Het licht is ook erg sterk, mooi schijnend op de zijkant vn de grote rots en fel op de kleine in de voorgrond.
Goed werk,
Groeten Gerrit

Beach 2 is one of my favorites. I like how you have placed the rock in the foreground, it creates a good depth and feel for this photo. Nice job managing the exposure, the colors turned out well. TFS

Hi Ann,
Another jaw-droppingly beautiful composition that works so well in this tightly cropped vertical format.
Love how the the giant tree topped rock reflects just past the breakers in the wet beach sand.
The colors are perfectly clear and ture.
The foreground barnacles and sand are richly textured and make a lovely lead-in to this winning image.

Hi Ann, I;ve been going TE Cold Turkey for 2 days now and had to get my fix. And your photo certainly provided it. The low POv is excellent, as is the light bouncing off the island. As always, a very sharp image. Congrats and thanks, Lisa.

Hello Ann,
What a lovely shot of the well known islet of the Olympic National Park. Usually one sees it in thick mist, although Wandering Dan had given us something evocative of yours.

Hey Ann,
Clever timing using the dramatic afternoon cast. A low POV worked the result, makes late afternoon walk a good idea!

This place is amazing. I would love to photograph here. Your composition is very good (although I wouldn't mind seeing the foreground pool a little lower). The reflection and the light are wonderful. I see that you don't use grad filters to balance the light, but here it would have made some difference to get that foreground sand a bit more bright. A great photo!
