Photographer’s Note

Built originally by Priest Lawrence in 1770 on the mountain range of Caraça, near the mountain range of Espinhaço, the sanctuary has a cathedral style Neogotic baptized of the Church of Our Lady Mother of Men, a College and Seminary of Caraça.
The College and Seminary functioned until 1968, when a fire destroyed its premises.
Today, after several reforms, the Sanctuary is reopened, but only for turism.
Besides the architectural complex, several tourist attractions such as waterfalls of Cascatinha and Cascatona, Pico del Sol, and lush native vegetation consisting of rainforest and fields of altitude and rich fauna.
