Photographer’s Note

Eckernförde is a summer resort at the Baltic coast of Schleswig-Holstein, about 65 miles North of Hamburg and 35 South of the Danish border. The name means 'Acorn-firth'. In the 19th century this city was one of the largest fishing towns at the Baltic Sea with a huge fish-processing industry. Smokehouse chimneys dominated the skyline and one third of the town‘s population of 6,000 then was dependent on this industry. Today the fishing fleet consists of just a handful of boats since this industry steadily lost importance. It is in the tourist area that the harbour is now thriving, communal structural improvements to upgrade the harbour area are currently at the planning stage.
A stroll along the harbour is a must for every visitor. However, it is not only the visitor who feels drawn by the fishing boats, locals too like to inspect the fishermen‘s catches.
Eckernförde is also the oldest spa town in the North, the first spa opened in 1831, the year from which the development of the more than ever important tourist industry dates. The potential in this industry will be exploited to the fullest extent.

Es ist 40 Jahre her dass ich dort war und genauso habe ich es in Erinnerung.
Tolle,kräftige farben und schöne Spiegelungen.Besonders gefallen mir die tiefen Wolken.
Am 2.Januar hatte ich auch blauen Himmel,aber ca 30 Grad mehr.......

L'eau a ici agit comme un filtre polarisant pour densifier le bleu du ciel.La couleur rouge brique des bâtiments est bien complémentaire de ce bleu.

the reflection in the water looks fantastic, of course!
(For myself I have always considered such places like this rather difficult for choosing the right composition...)
Interesting view; very well balanced composition!
But, to me, it does not look like "German" at all - it looks more Norvegian to me... but this proves how little of the world have I seen so far!
And of course I like the sunny mood :)

The colours and the light made my eyes dance, along with the ripples on the water! What an attractive scene, despite the presence of a crane.
The reflected images in the water extend the middle paryt of the shot and create a classic thirds composition. One for the text books.

Hello Harriet.
I think this town sounds a little like the town of my last upload, which you commented on - Port Fairy, which used to be a waling town. It's harbour in the river is a bit like this. Very pretty scene you have here, with the always appreciated masts of yachts and coloured buildings. Nice reflection and the benefit of a boat moving into the picture. Perhaps I would crop a little of the sky to make the photo a little more panoramic, but I like the gently increasing darkness of the water in the foreground. Good note, thanks!
