My second black and white picture in TE !

In WS you can see the Monument to the Discoveries close the mosaic.

A small space within the monument hosts a multimedia exhibition on the history of Lisbon. The top of the monument (reached via an elevator) offers wonderful views of the Tagus river, the Belém neighbourhood and its many attractions, including the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery, which date from the Age of Discovery.
The pavement in front of the monument features a mosaic decoration showing a world map with the routes of various Portuguese explorers and a wind rose. The mosaic was a gift from South Africa in 1960.

Le Padrão dos Descobrimentos est un monument érigé dans le quartier de Belém à Lisbonne. Il a été construit en 1960 pour fêter le 500ème anniversaire de la mort d'Henri le Navigateur. Son nom fait allusion aux padrões qu'utilisaient les navigateurs portugais des Grandes découvertes.
La monument a la forme d'une caravelle. Henri le Navigateur se tient à la proue, une caravelle entre les mains. Deux files descendantes, de chaque côté du monument, rassemblent les statues des figures portugaises liées aux Grands découvertes. Le sculpteur a volontairement omis Magellan, né portugais, qui passa au service du roi d'Espagne et dont la mémoire collective portugaise s'efforce d'oublier la défection.
Au nord du monument se trouve une rose des vents de 50 mètres de diamètre dessinée dans le sol. Elle montre les itinéraires pris par les navigateurs portugais aux XVe siècle et XVIe siècle.
À l'intérieur du monument un ascenseur permet d'atteindre le sixième étage, et un escalier monte jusqu'au sommet.

Superbe construction Aires,
la présence des personnage donne une idée parfaite des proportaions et tailles de l'oeuvre. Bon cadrage en décentré, un b&w qui joue bien mais je trouve que la version couleurs serait mieux.
Un pov très bien choisi bien évidemment.

The B&W conversion is also a great idea to strengthen the lines and the long shadows.

Menino! Esta imagem está fantástica! As pessoas minúsculas e suas sombras sobre o "mapa mundi", dentro desta enorme rosa dos ventos, tudo em P & B - foi uma idéia genial, ficou muito artístico. E a posição do desenho no campo visual está ótima! O WS é muito bonito também, além de mostrar o POV, imagino.

Está linda, com uma definição fantástica e um P&B excelente. Gosot muito da aproximação ao centro do mosaico e do facto de teres descentrado a imagem. Eu também tenho uma no TE mas é de qualidade nitidamente muito inferior.

O topo do padrão dos descobrimentos é um belo local para jogar com o mapa mundi no chão e com as pessoas que normalmente por lá deambulam.
As sombras de todas estas pessoas no chão, bem esticadinhas, criam um efeito muito interessante.
Gosto deste P&B de tonalidades suaves.

The mosaic itself is excellent & you've added the people with their long shadows which makes this really unique. I appreciate the conversion to B&W, because in this way the darkness of the shadows dominate. Well seen, well composed for this Fine work!

Um PdV impressionante, que deu uma compo excelente, com as pessoas e as suas sombras sobre o mapa-mundi e no centro da rosa-dos-ventos. Está muito bem enquadrada, o que nem sempre é fácil com esses motivos muito ricos geométricos, ainda por cima quando é preciso fazer a quadratura do círculo.

Olá Aires. Mais uma bela incursão no p&b. Excelente a composição com a adição daquele pessoal e belo o efeito gráfico. Gosto muito do efeito que o clarify tool faz a tudo o que é pedra e azulejo e experimentei. Confesso que não era o resultado que eu esperava mas gostei bastante do efeito que realçou as texturas.
