On the place du Marché.

A city of popular cafés where you come across delightful characters. One of the food specialities of the town par excellence are "the boulets liégeois". These “meatballs” consist of a minced mixture of various meats (pork, beef, lamb), onion, currants, breadcrumbs, and sometimes prunes. The boulet, which has a brotherhood in Liège, is served with a sauce made with sirop de Liège (a treacle made from cooking apple and pear juice), chips and salad.

this is an extraordinary urban classic...

It's THE classic, Michele

The classic of the past masters...
The classic of that one of a kind urban atmosphere...
The urban flavor...
Incredibly good stuff. except...?
Except that white something ( part of the chair ?) in the bottom, right corner...
It should simply be cloned out or ( even simpler) - blackened to non existence...

Other that that...
Well... As I said: A Classic !

So many pictures here Michele. I especially like the strong, diagonal line created by the head. But even more I like the trio in the window on the right, especially the ghostly face and the pointing finger. Lovely B&W with a very nice range of tones.

Bonjour, Michèle.
Une belle scène urbaine à plusieurs niveaux.
J'aime bien la superposition des plans, ici.
Mais même avant de lire la suggestion de Georges, j'ai eu la même pensée : les chaises dans le coin perturbent un peu l'harmonie de l'ensemble.

Bonsoir Michèle, une scène de la vie de tous les jours en ville.. ton WS est beaucoup mieux, j'aime bien la fait que tu aies flouté le premier personnage, ce monsieur semble apprécier la photo..

Getting all these 3 characters (and a dog!) at the same time, one is overlooking, the other staring lovely and straight toward you, and the last is pointing, involved in a day-to-day conversation..you got character from the FG to the BG...

stupendo ritratto di quel signore con il cane, catturato in una posa aristocratica e con un sorriso emblematico. L'immagine è stupendamente composta e ricca di particolari. Bravissima!

Something very special here. All these men (including dog I think)... There something around like creepy symbolism - men in the background... speaking not only with their faces but also with their hands...

Salut Michele,

Superbe cet homme et son chien, il ne semble pas gene d'etre pirs en photo ce qui son sourrire confirme. Les gens dans le cafe complete bien la compo. J'aurrais prefere un cadrage vertical...

This is a lovely picture Michele. A classic. Fascinating the way your subject looks at you while holding his dog in a very posing attitude. This moment of complicity between the man and you is perfectly combined with the natural attitude of the people in the window behind. The B&W is again excellent.
