Photographer’s Note
Lots of SAND for Kristine.
Back a few months ago, I posted “Window with a View” dedicated blue sky for Barbara and red rocks for Fulvio. When Kristine saw it, Here’s what she said, “well, if Barbara gets the blue sky and Fulvio gets the red rocks, can I PLEASE have the desert sand?” I told her she could have all the sand and that I would throw in some tumble weeds for her too. Because there is really not much sand in that image, so I owe it to her. Therefore this one is for her though not tumble weeds but some weeds as well. Enjoy, Kristine. Blue sky still belongs to Barbara, she needs it when she travel, so it it will not rain on her next destination.
This is taken at sunset, so the colors more red and gold, I don't want you to think that this is the color of the sand. See workshop for a other shots taken earlier.
Wind-sculpted sand dunes towering to 500 feet above sea level provide numerous recreational opportunities including off-highway vehicle use, hiking, photography, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding and camping. Open dunes, marsh-like deflation plains and beaches.
From Florence to Coos Bay, the Oregon Dunes NRA extends for 40 miles along the Oregon Coast. Formed by the ancient forces of wind, water and time, these dunes are like no others in the world. These are the largest expanse of coastal sand dunes in North America and they hold numerous opportunities for adventure and solitude.
This one is taken at John Dellenback Dunes, accessable by 15 munite hike from Eel Creek Campground where we camped.

good landscape of sand and dunes. This part of America looks like the Sahara desert.
Nice light that gives some shadows, nice colors and good composition with these pieces of grass that could have grown here.

Hi Way,
Now I'm jealous! I want something, too... and what's left after blue skies, red rocks, and golden sand? Ah, I think I'd be happy with something green - I love plants in every shape and size.
I'm just kidding!! ;o)
Just seeing this shot with that wonderful soft, peaceful atmosphere has brightened my day. You have captured another magical shot here - I can't really add anything clever to what the others have already said, so I'll just content myself with stating that it's another beautiful shot that makes Oregon go higher and higher on my list of places to visit.
Superb shot, thanks for sharing!

As it was already told to you, the light is superb and enhances the beauty of these dunes. I love the movement of the sand and the contrasts of colours between this deep blue sky and the warm colours of the sand.

Hi, Way. First of all, I thought there was too much space in the foreground, but looking more closely, I realize that there are nice patterns on the sand, drawing ice lines in the foreground. The tumble weeds leave a window open towards the more distant dunes standing well out against the sky. Very nice light.
Have a nice weekend,

Hi, Way -
Sand really does take on that color in the setting sunlight, you know. In fact, there is an overall richness to all the colors that can best be found in this combination of low light and shadow. Not faked at all.
Your decision to put so much of the foreground into the photo created a subtle balance that it took me a bit to appreciate, but now I see the curves of the dunes and wind patterns matched in the curves of the plants. Nicely done.
Best,
Dan

Hi Way,
What a beautiful shot of the Oregon dunes!! I love the contrast between the rich red wind waves in the sand and the feathery grasses. The sky is the prefect color of blue; it would be tempting to oversaturate it, but this color is just right.

Sabaidie Way
Sand dunes do take this colour in the sunset light...have seen the same hues in Jaisalmer desert in India. But these dunes are so pristine, no footmarks, no other marks except the lines of ripples, punctuated by the tall grass & flowers under the polarised sky. I was not aware of these dunes before I read your note, but then again, how much do I know about the world? Kristine loves sand dunes and this is a good dedication to her. Good work!

Hello Way,
basically it is the fine light rendering a beautiful colour palette that catches me eyes!
The shapes and lines are attractive too, as always when sand has been shaped by the wind and the sparse vegetation adds life and contrast...
The blue sky is a necessary element to balance the earthy colours!
