Photographer’s Note
On the rock in the foreground you can see a layer of posidonie, a seaweed which has been brought to land by the waves.
More properly known as Posidonia oceanica, it is a superior plant and not an algae, presenting roots, stem, leaves and flowers, and it grows as far as about 30-40 meters deep. Its characteristic is to colonize the territory constituting real prairie, which is made possible by the nature of this plant, which has roots and rhizomes that develop both in the vertical (to reach the light) and in the horizontal.
The Posidonia has the merit of slowing down the wave moviment and the drift of the waves along the coasts, defending them in part by the force of erosion of the movement of the sea. This plant is considered a real lung of the Mediterranean, for the large amount of oxygen produced by its prairies (the island of Ischia, for example, is surrounded by it). This characteristic provides excellent living conditions for at least fifty species of fish, echinoderms, crustaceans and molluscs.
Often victim of pollution and destructive practices of habitat in the Mediterranean in recent years, the Posidonia is protected by a law and with a series of measures to protect the species. The Posidonia is a plant species endemic in Mediterranean, i.e. existing only in that habitat.
FRANCOIS

Ciao Donato ,
A very fine coastal landscape , with an interesting subject , too . I like a lot the light and contrasts here , also the very natural colors . In Brittany , we get seaweeds to , but not like Posidonies . I've played on these ones on the beach in Corsica with my children , it was funny .

Ciao Donato,
What a beautiful coastal landscape! A good POV and composition with several layers of interest. The light is gorgeous here and the colours are beautiful and warm, looking like taken later in the afternoon. Excellent depth and sharpness. Although the title and the message via your good note is about the Posidonia seaweed, my eyes are glued into the beautiful sea with its changing colours and the waves, which you can almost hear splashing into the shallow waters. Complimenti!
Saluti,

Ciao Donato,
if it were not for your explanation in the Note I would never think that it's seaweed on the rocks!
Concerning the image in general, I like the way the distant clouds match the spindrift (which is mainly in the FG).

Hey Donato,
A motive seen often in your photos, but always sort of from a different perspective. Another nice shot. I especially like the defined clouds in the background, although the picture as a whole seems just a bit on the "dark side". Otherwise, it`s thoughtfully composed. Too bad the water is freezing.
Best regards.

Ciao Donato,

Buona giornata

Obviously the sea wave action is strong enough to wash the sea weed ashore. The exposure of rock is also a testimony of strong wave action.
Good capture of the coastal scenery with such a bright light. Always a wonderful view of blue sea when the blue sky is up like this one.

Hello Donato,
Some of your pictures have a dark mood with lack of real good light, but see this one, this is more how i like to see them. Fresh warm light lies over the rocks in front and even the water shines. The blue on top with clouds is another detail what makes this one stand out against some of the others. The F4 i don't understand, but maybe you had no tripod with you...
anyway, a bright, colourful and warm picture which i really like....well done.

Hi, Donato,
Very interesting story about this plant.
And really an excellent photo in many respects. The lighting is very fine and combined with the clear skies produces a nice palette of blues, greens and browns that you have effectively captured.
I like your main compositional treatment of the foreground rocks separating water to the left and the right using a diagonal orientation. It complements nicely the split horizon between water on the left and the land on the right.
I've learned (especially here on TE) to be attentive to the edges of the frame and for your photo I think it might have been a good tactic to not cut the house that appears along the right edge; either all in or all out would have been a better choice, I think. But this is a very small criticism for an otherwise excellent photo. And clearly (from your high score) many TE people think similarly!
Regards,
- William
