Photographer’s Note
Taken at Great Falls on the Potomac River on the Virginia side. It's a really beautiful spot, and the weather was unseasonably mild.
Unfortunately though the sky was pretty grey and because of the time of year there wasn't too much colour in the trees either. I've been here in autumn just as the leaves are turning and then it looks really stunning.
I've posted a workshop which is a different shot from the same POV, just slightly different effect on the water. Which one do you prefer? I think I actually prefer the workshop in hindsight.
I've got a couple more from here that I'll post over the next couple of days.
As ever I welcome your feedback, so please let me know what you think!
Cheers
Simon

I do like a lot the pov and composition with this peculiar rock formation that seems an animal crawling into the river.
There is very good depth of field and you managed to obtain pretty fine colours in spite of the gray sky. An interesting landscape. TFS,

Hello Simon!
I often find an overcast or grey sky to be a favorable situation. As in this shot, it helps to create a subtlety in tones that would be lost on a clear sky day with strong sunlight. Portrait photographers like overcast skies for that exact reason. Your photo portrays a crisp New England day very well. I can almost hear the rushing of the emerald falls in this shot. I think the only way to make it work a little better would be to control the horizon line in the distance to firmly plant the strength of this photo.
Fine Work Simon!

The photo is a bit overexposed. Maybe a stop... You can see it in the clear patch of white in the water (left bottom). The composition is very good and the subject is great.
