Key West Dock Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is a 180 degree view of Key West dock. In the background we see Majesty of the Seas Cruise Ship waiting for the passengers on pier B.

This is a stitching of 11 vertical shots. I had worked on that before but I was not satisfied with the final result, specially on the overexposured sky. Shooting against the Sun is not a good idea at all. At this time, graduated filter in Lightroom 2 helped me to manage it a bit...you may also consider some retouching in PS.

Achei muito interessante o POV aplicado aqui, ele nos leva direto para o imenso navio ancorado ao fundo, e um detalhe, as nuvens, pelo seu movimento, também convergindo para aquele ponto. Legal! Belas cores e contrastes. Abraço, Consuelo

This is an amazing piece of artistic work! Beautiful result, and since I have ried myself to stitch photos, I know that it is difficult (which software do you use?).
What is the grad fiter in Lightroom 2? sounds interesting, is like masking?

I think for the first time I find that the rather large letters on the frame actually add to the shot, especially if you were after a very postcard-like result. the colours of the water is fantastic, and I'm very impressed with the quality. great shot, Carlos, my compliments.

Hi Carlos,
I'd say not a bad result at all, especially on the water color and the quamys look very sunny, only the sky is a bit strange but we see from the clouds it's against the sun, the opened angle is terrific.

hehe, Carlos, you've gone completly commercial, haven't you? ;) this could be bought up by cruise companies for their ads. fine stitchwork if you you ask me. i need to learn this technique. one of the chilean lagunas i just could not show in a single frame. need to stitch together at least three shots.

I must say this is superb job of stitch to yield such a fabulous looking wide view of the dock. Already the color of the scene is so attactive but the details and the sharp image as a result of your pp work is simply stunning to bring this beautiful scenery out so well. Excellent work.

Hi Carlos,
Ultra-wide-angle shot of 180 degree is spectacular terrificly. Seamless stitching technique is truely perfect, but the main subject MS Monarch of the Seas is not in the sunny side, it's a bit of a pity for such a excellent image. It seems it would be better when taking this scene before noon, when seeing the Google Maps.
I like the color of the water and red accent on the right edge.

This must be a dream photo. I do not know if I would want to have my holiday in a very bigg ship rather then a small one travelling all the bays...But this one looks like a pretty fantasy for most of the people. It is a great postcard beauty for the Key West Dock.

Wow,,, this is one of the best post cards I've seen of Key West. I havent been there in years despite it's only a 3.5-hour-drive from my house. The panorama view of the dock looks fantastic; great light,and the colors look very nice as well. No sign of overexposure. I have tried stitching before, and it was a total disaster so I gave up. I think I need tutoring for that.
