Photographer’s Note
Peculiar sign, one that I had not seen before, I thought maybe it is telling me there are ladies by the side of the road but only for the next 600m.
The alps you can see are part of the mountain range called Pale Di San Martino best described as dozens of sharp rocky needles, with edges like knives, superb stone cathedrals, soaring towers with peaks that disappear into the sky: that's the Pale di San Martino, majestic and elegant coral mountains.
The Pale are ancient coral reefs that, once emerged, were modelled by the elements into their present sharp and rugged forms. The rock's name, dolomia, is a tribute to its discoverer, marquis Déodat de Dolomieu, who in 1788 during a trip here discovered its chemical composition. Ever since last century their beauty has enthralled foreign travellers and climbers. But what really fascinates everyone is most of all the Altopiano delle Pale: that lunar, mysterious stone table high up at over 2,000 metres altitude, fifty square kilometres of bare rock tormented like a stormy ocean, with the wounds of deep crevices throughout it.

Hi Santo,
Funny sign. I think it means there will be many hills in the road, but the thought of boobilicious ladies lining it for the next 600m sounds better.
It's a pretty nicely done photo, well exposed and focused. I like those low, dark clouds.

Caro Santo, I love this beautifully framed photo - and your Naughty Little Note! What do they say? You can take the man out of Italy, but you cannot take Italy out of the man??? On a technical note, the DOF is so wonderfully clear and your sky is something our hero Signor Clementi would be proud of. Excellent work and have a brilliant WE, Lisa.

Either you have a good sense of humor or in that part of the world you don't have the same road signs as here...
You found a fine dramatic sky to crown those outstanding mountains. I like the strong contrast between the lit parts and the dark wood. A ggod composition, but the sign - I guess -is more interesting to Aussie boys!
Have a nice weekend,
Donato

hello Santo
I look back at your 1st photo post again and now realize why you have been on my follow through list of TE members since then - your humour, concern for environment and always informative note about Australia and now Italy which provides a learning photo to daily scenes presented with your own style and which I have since begin to cherish as impressive and meaningful.
I will write you email after this.
In this one, it is the great sense of humor in the title itself and the road sign that really strikes a smile on my face. Well not limited to that, because the dark sense of the sky and clouds are really very effective here for you to highlight the light at the lower end of the clouds and the mountains. Even the path leading down is well lit.
Santo, I really dont know. Is this a trap you have set up 600m down the road? I know somebody might wish to place toll collection booth if the ladies are going to attract men! Or will the men facing havoc in life when passing through this 600m last hurdle?
I like the 2 arrow signs of sharp bend and the trees used for this framing.
Bravo!
tfs, bill

That is a nice view of the ladies on the road! And there are 600m of them!!! How many did you find?
The shot is superb with that dramatic sky and super light. Well done.

Hello Santo,
Whichever way you want to interpret the sign, it is certainly a great and well placed eyecatcher, along with the two signs further down the road. I like the crystal-clear sharpness and the contrasts between the mountains and the forest, also the very dramatic clouds.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Santo,
This is brilliant. Threatening sky with excellent depth. Catch title with excellent contrast of the sign. The choice of tall framing is very good with the leading road making good depth in this image.
TFS and have a nice day.

Hi Santo, great composition, I'm with Jusni. the sky looks a bit bright in patches - probably unavoidable as there is a lot of dynamic range in the image. And, as we've come to expect, an amusing title to go with it. cheers, sTeve

Ciao caro Santo,
Bravissimo, come sempre!
Ciao, buona settimana, un abbraccio!

Hi Santo,
That is a very funny shot, Dolly Parton is alive and well in Italy it seems.
Beautiful capture of the cloud shrouded mountains, great sharps and exposure.

Hi Santo,
Little details that make travels interesting. Europeans bring shots of kangaroo or wombat warning signs from Australia and you have this. But after this one you'd better keep your eyes on the road rather than looking for roadside attractions...
Impressive mountain landscape. Maybe you got a bit far playing on contrasts.
If you like signs, here's a few more...

Hello Santo,
I like your humour, making me looks like an idiot laughing irresistibly, alone. After the good laugh, I managed to re-gain consciousness and appreciate this photo which to me evokes a lot of emotions, the mark of a great photo. Your choice of FG subject often surprises me, very well used, effective and interesting. The low clouds shrouding the snowy mountains provide the dark ambiance yet allow some light bursting through is well noticed and captured. I like Italy because of your photo.

Hello Santo,
It's so funny, pointed mountain and round shape as well. It's also interesting that this sign seems to set it up on not the roadside but the road.

Buongiorno Santo,
Bravo.
Passa un buono giorno.

Hi Santo,
Superb somber view of the Italian Alps with the ominous silver-blue sky looming over the jagged peaks.
The winding downhill road provides fine depth to this lovely shot.
Very humorous note about the dips and rises of this mountain road.

Hi Santo,
Lighting and shading create fantastic scene at the highland, interesting composition to show how the information of signboard match with the real environment, good frame to highland pines at both side too, distinct image, good pov shooting on a narrow road just before the next bent, well done.

Hi Santo. The sign must be for women because it in no way mimics the shape of the mountains. ;-) Excellent photo, good use of natural framing and good lead-in also. Well spotted and captured, thanks for sharing.
Have a good week, Paul.

Hello Santo,
LOL the beginning of your Note made me smile!
If it were not for the red colour of the road sign the sight would look a little too sombre... and the sign also balances the composition perfectly! Interesting photo, good POV!

Hello Santo
Your title is quirky and is characteristic of some of your pictures. I am impressed by the high luminosity range of this shot and the squarish medium format presentation is quite nice too.
Thanks for sharing
